The new 2022 rankings are out.

This season ended up being a short AIA season, a full Grind Session season, a condensed CAA season and a longer AAU season with showcase formats.

This 2022 class is hoping the same thing doesn’t happen to them as the 2021 class and have a few live periods in the summer. Either Section-7 or AAU tournaments.

We look at the Top-10 CG’s in the 2022 class:

This group has five in the Top-22 with one already signed.

1. [player_tooltip player_id="701245" first="Mekhi" last="Mason"] AZ Compass Prep

-A long two-way combo guard. He grew a little this year, became more athletic and polished up his jumper. He still has his nice passing skills and he verbally committed to Rice.

2. [player_tooltip player_id="933469" first="Devontes" last="Cobbs"] Eduprize

-An athletic stud flies on the break. He has one jaw dropping play a game. His passing has really improved and he is a 3-level scorer. His motor is arguably the best in the class.

3. [player_tooltip player_id="701244" first="Nate" last="Pickens"] AZ Compass Prep

-A walking bucket is always shot ready. He loves the mid-range pull-up off the dribble and has a nice stroke from the 3. He can play on the ball and spray it around but his shooting makes his game go. He changes speeds well.

4. [player_tooltip player_id="994506" first="Rickey" last="Bradley"] Eduprize (Pictured)

-A tough guard who plays and defends multiple positions. He is a big game player and scores it from all 3 levels. He defends, shoots it, gets downhill and can make plays for others like a PG.

5. [player_tooltip player_id="826999" first="Andrew" last="King"] Desert Vista

-A strong guard is evolving his game. He gets downhill better using his upper body strength and handle plus is a superior facilitator then last year. He can still shoot it from deep with range, so you can't leave him open. He just received an offer from D1 Nicholls State this week.

6. [player_tooltip player_id="827044" first="Easton" last="Reagan"] Desert Mountain

-A bigger combo guard is a sniper for the Wolves. He has real range and a good feel for the game. He is rebounding the ball better then last year and makes good reads to teammates.

7. [player_tooltip player_id="1035642" first="Jaleon" last="Israel"] Glenview College Prep

-The biggest wildcard in the class was out for the year with an injury. He was just starting to turn heads and take his game to another level. He is athletic with good skill from all levels. If he can regain his full health, he may the sleeper in the group.

8. [player_tooltip player_id="827049" first="Pascal" last="Volz"] McClintock

-A combo guard who can easily play either guard spot. He is a good passer with a high IQ and can shoot it consistently off the catch from the 3pt line.

9. [player_tooltip player_id="1035643" first="Cashuel" last="Scott"] Shadow Mountain

-A strong guard who can handle it and score it from all 3 levels. He has a pull-up game and the deep 3. He gets into the lane absorbing contact and is tough on D. He could have a big season for the Matadors next season.

10. [player_tooltip player_id="827050" first="Brandon" last="Lee"] CDS

-A cerebral guard plays both guard spots for the Aztecs. He is very crafty, tough and skilled. He makes catch-3's plus can slither his way into the lane and score it or get fouled.

5 Others:

1. [player_tooltip player_id="1128443" first="Kameron" last="Bender"] Higley

-A very under the radar athletic combo guard. He makes good reads to teammates and can hit the 3-ball. His defense is by far his best current skill locking up opponents best players or slowing them down. He uses his length and athleticism to be a pest.

2. [player_tooltip player_id="827026" first="Marcus" last="Coleman"] Pueblo

-A physical downhill player can play both spots. He has a strong frame and absorbs contact scoring through contact. He make good reads and is a capable 3pt shooter.

3. [player_tooltip player_id="1049921" first="Ryan" last="Tertel"] Pusch Ridge

-A skilled combo guard shot the ball at a 35% clip from downtown. He had a breakout game vs Safford with 25 pts. He makes good decisions with the ball and plays a cerebral game.

4. [player_tooltip player_id="827009" first="Trenten" last="Lavender"] Centennial

-Some bad luck for this guard. He missed most of last season then came back and tried playing on it this season and realized something is not right. They had to go back and clean up his injury in the hopes of playing his senior season. He can play the PG or SG and score it plus make plays.

5. [player_tooltip player_id="827042" first="Extavius" last="Mason"] Greenway

-A long lefty scorer more then tripled his ppg from 3 to 11 including a big 24 point performance. He also had multiple 6+ assist games showing his versatility.
