There was a ton of talent in the building at Haltom High School. With that in mind, here are my 15U All-Tournament Team selections:
First Team
Jon Tran | 2024 | 6’0’’ Shooting Guard | NTX Elite 2024 | Plano East HS – Tran was outstanding as a playmaker. His vision is excellent, and his deliveries were always accurate. He sees the floor so well and consistently made the right play when the ball was in his hands this weekend. As a scorer, Tran was terrific as well. The Plano East guard showed that he can hit shots from behind the arc. He also drilled some mid-range jumpers off the bounce. Additionally, he contributed on the boards and was active on the defensive end.
Josiah McDonald | 2024 | 5’11’’ Shooting Guard | Drive Nation San Antonio 2024 | Stevens HS – McDonald helped lead his team to an undefeated record at The Tune Up thanks to his tremendous offensive production. He scored from all three levels, displaying good range from behind the arc and getting to the basket with ease when attacking off the dribble. His mid-range game was solid too. The 2024 guard also turned defense into offense by getting into passing lanes for steals and transition buckets. This guy is dangerous when he gets downhill.
Brooks Bahr Brooks Bahr 6'5" | CG Keller | 2024 State #111 Nation TX | 2024 | 6’3’’ Shooting Guard | Texas Impact 2024 UAA | Keller HS – Bahr was another guy whose team ended the tournament undefeated, due in large part to his shooting. He possesses good size and a strong build for his age. The Keller guard shot the lights out in his final game of the weekend, hitting four threes, two of which were back-to-back daggers to seal the victory. Furthermore, Bahr used his shot making ability to sink some close-range fadeaways in the post after securing offensive rebounds.
Will Smith | 2024 | 6’4’’ Small Forward/Power Forward | Team Buddy Buckets 2024 | Choctaw HS – Smith was an absolute stud at both ends. His two-way versatility was on full display. He finished with finesse and power in transition, even throwing down a one-handed dunk in one of his games, showing off his explosiveness as an athlete. The 2024 combo forward also played great when posting up defenders down low, wisely exploiting mismatches and using his strength to carve his was into the paint. On defense, Smith guarded multiple positions, blocked shots, stayed in front of opponents on the perimeter, and pulled down some impressive-looking rebounds.
Benjamin Price | 2024 | 6’3’’ Small Forward/Power Forward | Victory Academy 2024 Gold | Prosper HS – Price was fantastic when operating on the wing as well as in the post. He has a long and wiry frame but is stronger than he appears at first glance. He put the ball in the basket in a variety of ways, scoring off the drive, utilizing his soft touch in the paint, and burying turnarounds in the high post. The Prosper forward exhibited that he is capable of knocking down mid-range shots from the baseline too. Beyond that, Price was good at cleaning the glass on defense and showed that he can play above the rim in transition.
