While our focus this weekend was seeing 16 U action, being an Ohio scout, I wanted to see every Ohio team at the event. That included two 15 U teams with mostly Ohio based prospects. In this article I’m going to be spotlighting the top 15 U players I saw in games featuring Team Flyght and Tri State Knicks 15 U teams.

[player_tooltip player_id="1068238" first="Timothy" last="Carpenter"], 6’4 SF Trotwood (OH) Team Flyght 2024: Carpenter was the most physically mature player on the floor. He was driving to the paint with ease and scoring almost every time. Dayton area fans will be hearing a lot more about his name in the coming years. The game looked way too easy for Carpenter at times, I’ll be interested to see him next season for Trotwood. Trotwood also has two more players on this Team Flyght 15 U squad, they might be the group that gets them back to competing for state titles.

Reis Butcher, 6’4 SF Brebuf (IN) INB Elite 2024: Butcher found a lot of success on the fast break, using his long strides to beat the defense down the floor. Butcher attracted a lot of defensive eyes on him and took advantage with passes to open teammates. Has a decent amount of athletic upside.

Javen Vaughn 5’8 PG West Carrollton (OH) Team Flyght 2024: Vaughn showed off his range numerous times throughout the weekend. A smaller guard, Vaughn struggled to finish around the rim. I also liked Vaughn’s defense on ball pressure. With Vaughn and [player_tooltip player_id="867955" first="Sam" last="Walker"], West Carrollton has some nice building blocks to compete for the next couple years.

[player_tooltip player_id="1160827" first="Nelson" last="Shinkle"], 6’7 C Knox County (MO) Mid Mo Elite 2024: Shinkle sealed off defenders to get easy layups. Had some nice big to big action with Levi Robinson. Made himself available to his teammates. Putback tip slam dunk showed off his size and length. Shinkle made some impressive blocks on the defensive end as well. He’s a prospect that Midwest programs will soon have their eyes on.

Elijah Perry, 6’0 SG Lakota East (OH) Tri State Knicks 2024: Perry worked the mid-range area well, using jump-stops and pivots to create space. Coming off the bench, Perry provided a spark for his team.

James Franklin, 6’2 SF Middletown (OH) Tri State Knicks 2024: Franklin attacked the basket well all game. I liked his defensive energy and thought he made the right decision with the basketball when it was in his hands. Franklin plays with a lot of energy and could be the next Middletown stud after [player_tooltip player_id="805198" first="Johrdon" last="Mumford"] graduated this season.
