Pro Resolution Boys Showcase: Eye-Openers Part 1

<p>Was so pleased to be on hand last weekend for the Pro Resolution Showcase at Cass HS, a terrific event put on by my friend Jarrett Christian and the enthusiastic Pro Movement crew of coaches and trainers.</p> <p>A mixture of unsigned 2021s and below were on hand, and the number of eye-catchers was deep as expected:</p> <p><em><strong>Dylan Bennifield, 6-0, PG, Mt Paran, 2021 (pictured above)</strong></em></p> <p>Followed his excellent performance the weekend before at the SEBA showcase with another head-turning performance at the lead guard spot, showed off his quick yet poised handle, smooth shooting touch from 3 and all the confidence in the world, had he played at a 6A or 7A school he would be on the lips of more folks for sure, definitely a late steal for a school looking for smart steady guard play.</p> <p><strong><em>Devin Pope, 6-2, SG, Cross Creek, 2021</em></strong></p> <p>Had most of the coaches in attendance scratching their heads both as to how he was still unsigned and also at the myriad of skills he had on display for the second straight weekend (a standout at the SEBA Showcase as well), so athletic and explosive off the break or attacking from the wing, he had 3 dunks in one game and showed off deep shooting range and solid on-ball defending all day once again, has become one of the true stars amongst the 2021 unsigned pool.</p> <p><em><strong>Stephen Lewis, 6-2, SG, Stephenson, 2022</strong></em></p> <p>Has started off the travel season for the Atlanta Astros by turning heads and did much of the same at this Pro Res Showcase, plays well above the rim in attack mode for someone only 6-2 and that lift is something you can’t teach, loved seeing him expand his game and handle the ball as a lead guard for portions and looked steady doing it both as a driver and distributor, big summer awaits as his potential wow moments will be sure to catch eyeballs.</p> <p><em><strong>Zubair Ahmed, 6-6, PF, Brandon Hall, 2022</strong></em></p> <p>Love these events for the truly under the radar guys who often emerge, Ahmed fits into that category as a rangy, good mover who was quick off the deck finishing in close and looked comfortable at both ends against some pretty good bigs on hand, good frame and can see the potential that is there, if he adds range to his jump shot could really emerge as a sleeper to watch in A-Private next year.</p> <p><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1011339" first="Braxton" last="Benham"], 6-1, PG, Cass, 2021</strong></em></p> <p>Playing on his home floor Benham did what he usually does - play an intelligent PG, show great speed with the ball, show off exceptional vision and unselfish play, explode to the hoop with the hops off a 6-5 player when given a slice of space, and guard the heck out of the ball with his A+ athletic ability, like Bennifield above another excellent all-around "ballplayer" who can help a D2 or D3 program right away.</p> <p><em><strong>Ethan Elliott, 6-3, SG, Warner Robins, 2022</strong></em></p> <p>Another reason these showcases in the ATL-area are great is they usually attract some of the best South Georgia talent we up this way don’t get to see a whole lot, Elliott was pointed out to me by my guy Kyle Sandy and he didn’t disappoint, good size, really advanced IQ on both the attack side and the movement side working open, great-looking, natural stroke and a dribble and pull-up game that reminded of the days of old, a must-see 2022 South GA guard prospect.</p> <p><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1059177" first="Karson" last="Baldwin"], 5-8, PG, Columbus, 2024</strong></em></p> <p>One of three 2024’s to brave the older crew really held his own with a great combo of inherent moxie and confidence and a slick dribble-drive game that more than once blew past unsuspecting defenders, showed great poise both handling pressure out front and in running an effective break, solid shooting  performance from past the arc as well for another South GA product who made the long drive up to White, GA.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
