The Teams: Silver Creek, Leo
When: Saturday, 5 pm ET
Prediction: Silver Creek
Player To Watch: Trey Kaufman Trey Kaufman 6'8" | PF Silver Creek | 2021 State #39 Nation IN (Silver Creek; 2021)
Silver Creek comes in with a huge advantage and is the heavy favorite to ’repeat’ as state champions. They won the state title two years ago and have arguably the top three players on the floor. On the other end of the floor, Leo comes in to its first state championship appearance in school history. Both teams have had ‘luck’ on their side throughout the state tournament. Leo has had a six-point overtime win against Bishop Luers, a one-point win over Northwood and then a two-point win against South Bend St. Joseph en route to the title game. Silver Creek had a three-point win over North Harrison, four-point win over Heritage Hills and then a one-point win over Connersville. Trey Kaufman Trey Kaufman 6'8" | PF Silver Creek | 2021 State #39 Nation IN , Kooper Jacobi Kooper Jacobi 6'6" | PF Silver Creek | 2021 State IN and Branden Northern Branden Northern 5'11" | PG Silver Creek | 2022 State IN headline the players to watch, all for Silver Creek. However, Leo has a trio in its own right with Blake Davison Blake Davison 6'0" | PG Leo | 2021 State IN , D.J. Allen D.J. Allen 6'7" | PF Leo | 2022 State IN and Zach Troyer. Both teams have made big plays to close games out come playoff time and if it were to come down to the wire on Saturday, it would be because of Blake Davison Blake Davison 6'0" | PG Leo | 2021 State IN . If he can make enough shots to offset the expected production of Kaufman and Jacobi, Leo will have a shot. That front court duo of Silver Creek is nearly unstoppable, however, combining for 46 points and 23 rebounds per game. I think Silver Creek comes away with this one and wins another State Championship.
