At one point in the second half, he knocked down a three, and then the next possession he drove to the cup for an acrobatic finish for two. One of his teammates consistently got double-teamed and he take advantage of the extra space that was given to him. At the next level, he could play a pivotal role on a college team that needs a complimentary guard.

Not only did Ayyappan average 11 points per game last year as a junior, but he was one of the better defenders on the team. And with so much attention this season going towards stopping or slowing down Castillo, that will certainly open up opportunities for Ayyappan and his teammates to make plays on the offensive side of the floor. But when you watched the Bruins last season, it was Ayyappan who was the top defender on the Bruin team, constantly locking up the opponent’s best ball handler. Ayyappan is also underrated on the offensive end of the floor. He’s a great option for the Bruins on offense when teams try to focus their attention on Castillo. We’re looking forward to seeing more of Ayyappan this winter as the Bruins could make a return trip to the state tourney.
