SEBA Senior Showcase: Superlatives Part 1

<p>It was once again great to be invited out by Billy LoPresti and his team for another Showcase put on by SEBA, and this one featured over 100 unsigned 2021 prospects from all over the state, who converged on Pope HS to show off their talents before a strong turnout of coaches and media.</p> <p>Here are some players who caught my eye and need to be on radars:</p> <p><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="869652" first="Isaiah" last="Logan"], 6-1, PG, Allatoona (pictured above)</strong></em></p> <p>Did his thing pushing pace and showing off his scoring chops as a lead guard, can definitely run an offense as a pass-first leader but gives you that excellent add’l scoring component with plenty of range out past the arc, superb on-ball defender and will get in there rebound from the guard spot.</p> <p><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1020671" first="Dylan" last="Pumpian"], 6-1, SG, Walton</strong></em></p> <p>As good a spot-up shooter as the event had after a season where he was clutch, smart and composed, gets his shot off so quickly as he’s ready for the catch always, can put it on the deck to create space for an equally effective mid-range game, if deadeye shooting is on your needs list you must look here.</p> <p><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="948584" first="Franklin" last="Almonte"], 6-5, SF/PF, Dalton</strong></em></p> <p>A max effort guy who fights and claws and makes life difficult for other frontcourts, plenty of skill to go with that effort level as he really knows how to finish in close either with his back to the basket or crashing on the O-glass, has a jumper out to 15 feet, sized like an SF but plays bigger than 6-5 so a PF-slot is a possibility at the right program.</p> <p><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="869620" first="Davon" last="Cottle"], 6-3, SG, Tri-Cities</strong></em></p> <p>Been a fan of Cottle’s for awhile on a team loaded with stars down in East Point, played a lot of PG Saturday which adds to his resume, but also is a pure scorer who just has a nose for the bucket and is willing to take on all comers, tremendous long-range shooter but has a strong build and will bull his way to the bucket through contact, heady defender as well with active hands, if you need some classic scoring punch to boost a stagnant lineup take a long look here.</p> <p><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1045712" first="Chancelor" last="Johnson"], 6-4, PG, Tri-Cities</strong></em></p> <p>A big, physical PG prospect who looks the part with a college-ready body, poised handle and has his head on a swivel, super confident pulling it from 3-land, reminded me a lot of a Trajan Langdon-type with his sweet-looking stroke and build which means he can slide to the 2 as well, another Bulldog from a roster filled with sleeper next-level caliber players. </p> <p><em><strong>Joshua Valembrum, 6-4, SF, Long County</strong></em></p> <p>This event is designed to get prospects like Valembrum into a greater spotlight, plays bigger than his 6-4, super-athletic as a mover with a nose for finishing in tight spaces, showed off excellent timing as a shot-blocker as well.</p> <p><em><strong>Josh Beckham, 6-5, SF, King’s Academy</strong></em></p> <p>Strong frame with a stout lower body as well gives him plenty of power to bang with forwards of multiple sizes, nice stroke from deep but no qualms about getting dirty nearer the basket, best attribute is an athleticism which allows him to guard the perimeter or use that strength to guard the block as well.</p> <p><em><strong>Jordan Gary, 6-6, PF, Hiram</strong></em></p> <p>Great length and uses long arms to be a glass cleaner and pesky defender, another very athletic guy at and at 6-6 can be a tough matchup as a downhill wing or cat-quick post man with his back to the basket.</p> <p><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="948585" first="Kervens" last="Yacinthe"], 6-6, CG, Paulding County</strong></em></p> <p>Another camp another outstanding performance for the big 2021, can just flat out score on you from all spots, guard him close and he goes by you, lay off him for fear of the blow-by and he buries you from 3-land, rebounds like a forward and can take it coast to coast or lead a pretty break with a dump-off for a teammate, holds multiple offers but it remains a mystery he lasted unsigned on the scene this long.</p> <p><em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="820320" first="London" last="Williams"], 6-0, PG, Hapeville Charter</strong></em></p> <p>One of the best first steps off the dribble I saw all day, the speed with the ball in the open floor as well caused problems for everyone he faced, really wants to get to the rim but did show a jumper that can be a weapon, an on-ball defensive beast.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
