The Arizona Competition Classic took place Saturday, March 20th, and Sunday, March 21st. Hosted by recruiting legend Gerry Freitas the two-day event featured 18 total teams. It also featured several high-flying wings. In this article, we take a look at the top wing players from the event.

Javonte Darrett 6’6 SF West Coast Prep 2021 - Darrett was one of the eye opening performers of the event. The wing has a smooth game that includes some nifty COD’s and iso moves. Darrett is a big-time R&J athlete and tough shot maker that was dead on from the top of the key.

[player_tooltip player_id="947816" first="Miles" last="Byrd"] 6’6 SF Port City 2022 - Every time I watch him he’s got something new in his bag. This weekend it was his passing. Byrd is a point-forward type, with the ability to deliver on time and on target passes to his teammates. You have to force him right when playing against him because if he gets to his left hand you’ve got problems. Bryd finished with some thunderous dunks, pull-ups, and nice dimes to teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id="1111520" first="Jaylen" last="Wells"] 6’6 SF FEBA 2021 (featured image) - Wells did what scholarship athletes do in events like this, he stood out. For most of the weekend, he was simply better than his competition. He has improved his shot a great deal, effortlessly knocking down threes throughout the weekend. Smooth is the best way to describe him, as he likes to glide to the lane for finishes. He was also impressive with his second jump, he was quick and explosive using it to grab several offensive boards for putbacks.

Mike Foliron 6’10 C The Show 2021 - Foliron was a revelation during the weekend, the big man who is originally from London played with a high motor, grabbing several out of area boards. He protected the rim, showed good hands, and finished with several monster dunks. A 3.0 student, he’s starting to receive interest from the likes of UMass, VCU, and Northern Arizona.

[player_tooltip player_id="946524" first="Robert" last="Vaihola"] 6’7 C Sneaker Steal 2022 - The first thing you notice about him is his hands. The ball looks like a grapefruit in Vaihola’s mitts. I think his size gives people the impression that he is a plodding type big man, when in reality he is a much more fluid athlete. Vaihola faces up and uses dribble drives from 18 feet in to create shots for himself Despite his size he is a quick jumper that possesses nimble footwork.

[player_tooltip player_id="946527" first="Ryan" last="Kiachian"] 6’10 C Team Grr 2021 - The Cornell signee was the quickest jumper out of all the big men I watched this weekend. He gets off the floor in a hurry and showed good timing when going for blocks and rebounds. His offensive game has some skill to it as well. Kiachian showed that he was comfortable facing up and knocking down shots as well as scoring with some nice post moves down low.

Follow Prep Hoops
