This had led to players making final college choices and preparing to head to the next level this summer. Let’s take a glance at a few of the players that have made college decisions, picked up offers and others that are some of the best available.
One of the best available Guards in the state was Henderson Collegiate Javonte Waverly Javonte Waverly 6'3" | CG Henderson Collegiate | 2021 State NC who has played at a very high level during his high school career and especially during the last two seasons. Waverly averaged 16 Points, 7 Rebounds and 6 Assist this season, helping to lead his team to the Eastern Regional Semifinals. On Friday afternoon Waverly announced that he will be attending UNC-Pembroke, a D2 program that competes with D1 programs yearly and is a national Top 25 consistently.
Farmville Central was absolutely dominant this season and one of the unsung heroes on this team was Senior Forward Leontaye Moye. Moye was a monster on the boards all season and made plays above the rim on both ends of the court which was huge for the Jags. Recently Moye received an offer from Catawba College a program that makes a nice amount of noise at the D2 level every year, JUCO programs will also want to give him an offer as well.
Northwood Temple Senior Guard Brady Rankin Brady Rankin 6'2" | CG Northwood Temple | 2021 State NC is off the board now after making his commitment to attend Georgia Southwestern University. Rankin transferred into Northwood Temple from Hoggard HS and didn’t seem to miss a beat, scoring the ball at a nice level which would lead to a state championship appearance and All-State honors. Rankin was one of the best shooters in the state and has what we would call ’’ sneaky’ athleticism.
One of the better PG’s in the state that remains available is High Point Christian’s KJ Garrett who was named Co-Conference Player Of The Year, led his team to a state semifinal appearance and finished his career with over 1500 Points. KJ currently holds offers from Mount Olive & Belmont Abbey College with interest from numerous other programs. He is a player that can facilitate just as well as he can score and posses a very high level of maturity.
Scotland Christian Guard Brodie Clark Brodie Clark 6'1" | CG Scotland Christian Academy | 2021 State NC is the name that you probably have heard the least about but fans in Laurinburg should be excited about what he can potentially be at the next level. Clark made his commitment to St. Andrews University in October and will be making his college choice official when he signs with SAU on March 18th.
