Spring is right around the corner. With spring comes the transition into grassroots basketball. As we prepare for that transition, here are some floor generals to know from Maryland, DC, and Virginia.

[player_tooltip player_id="1107844" first="Ryan" last="Blakey"]

You don’t have to watch [player_tooltip player_id="1107844" first="Ryan" last="Blakey"] play for long before you see him assert himself as a leader. He is a menace defensively who competes intensely.

[player_tooltip player_id="904652" first="Cam’ron" last="Brown"]

[player_tooltip player_id="904652" first="Cam’ron" last="Brown"] is a floor general because he looks to pass first. He also makes a difference defensively, both at the point of attack and in help.

[player_tooltip player_id="962795" first="George" last="Cutler"]

[player_tooltip player_id="962795" first="George" last="Cutler"] is a shifty southpaw from the 757 who plays at a good tempo. He is a tenacious defender as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="1107834" first="Marquis" last="Dunklin"]

[player_tooltip player_id="1107834" first="Marquis" last="Dunklin"] is probably not as well known as some of the other guards on this list, but he has earned a spot on this list. Not only is he a solid defender, but he’s a very good rebounding guard who can finish in traffic.

[player_tooltip player_id="904663" first="Rob" last="Lawson"]

[player_tooltip player_id="904663" first="Rob" last="Lawson"] is a nightmare matchup because he uses his low center of gravity and explosive quickness to his advantage against bigger guards but is stronger than most guards his size. He is a flat-out defensive pest who is dynamic in the open court.

[player_tooltip player_id="815578" first="Knasir" last="McDaniel"]

[player_tooltip player_id="815578" first="Knasir" last="McDaniel"] showcases excellent ball-handling and playmaking skills. His court vision is elite and he makes plays that you will see very few guards make.

[player_tooltip player_id="904628" first="Deon" last="Perry"]

If you’re looking for a pure point guard who wins games, [player_tooltip player_id="904628" first="Deon" last="Perry"] is your man. He is tough as nails, holds his own defensively, makes others better, and can score if he needs to.

[player_tooltip player_id="1107847" first="Colin" last="Ryan"]

[player_tooltip player_id="1107847" first="Colin" last="Ryan"] is a big point guard who does all the little things. He is resilient, unselfish, and smart.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049816" first="Ty" last="Williams"]

[player_tooltip player_id="1049816" first="Ty" last="Williams"] is one of the best-kept secrets in the DC Metro Area. He’s a long lanky guard who is fast but plays with control and maturity.
