Six teams had games today at the SHAC in north Fargo. Two teams ended their seasons and four of them are headed to the State Tournament in Bismarck. We had three great matchups and some stellar individual performances.

Heading into the State Tournament the EDC will send these teams to Bismarck:

#1 West Fargo Sheyenne

#2 Fargo Davies

#3 West Fargo

#4 Fargo North

Let us look at the games…

Fargo North 62 Fargo Shanley 58

Spartan leaders – [player_tooltip player_id="1144475" first="Jeremiah" last="Sem"] 19 pts, 6 reb [player_tooltip player_id="1131617" first="Ryan" last="Manly"] 11 pts, 4 reb [player_tooltip player_id="812228" first="Luke" last="Loberg"] 10 pts, 11 reb [player_tooltip player_id="1046363" first="Jalen" last="May"] 10 pts [player_tooltip player_id="1144600" first="Carter" last="Zeller"] 8 pts, 14 reb

Deacon leaders – [player_tooltip player_id="731890" first="Braden" last="DeKeyser"] 18 pts, 14 reb, 4 ast Jack Pollert 14 pts, 4 reb [player_tooltip player_id="1128188" first="Conner" last="Kraft"] 12 pts, 7 reb

Wahpeton 54 West Fargo 92

The Packers were bigger stronger and faster in this one and it showed in the second half. Wahpeton put up its best fight and hung around in the first half. The Packers went into halftime with a 15-point lead. In the second half, West Fargo flexed its muscles and imposed its will upon the Huskies. Wahpeton fought hard and showed their grit. It is never fun to see a team end its season, but that is the way it goes. The West Fargo Packers punched their ticket to State!

Standout players

[player_tooltip player_id="731900" first="Carter" last="Birrenkott"] (2021) |6-5 F| West Fargo -22 pts, 14 reb, 3 ast, 1 triples. He was a workhorse in the paint tonight. Carter was impossible to stop when he had the ball in the lane. He looked like a man amongst boys in this game. He was phenomenal on the boards. Carter blocked multiple shots, a couple of them he swatted the ball like it was a fly. He had a great overall performance.

[player_tooltip player_id="812219" first="Carson" last="Hegerle"] (2022) |6-4 G| West Fargo – 21 pts, 6 reb, 2 ast. He looked like a Division 1 athlete tonight. Carson is a dynamic player in transition. He cut great in this game that led to easy baskets. Carson is a smooth finisher with his left hand. He can not be guarded by just one player.

[player_tooltip player_id="1124529" first="Joel" last="Pease"] (2021) |6-5 F| West Fargo -18 pts, 5 reb, 4 ast, 2 triples. He started the scoring in the game with a driving layup. He blocked a shot early in the game that helped set the tone defensively. I was impressed with a difficult running shot he made in the middle of two defenders. He has another impressive block in the second half. Joel has great touch around the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id="1131388" first="Munezero" last="Desire"] (2021) |5-8 G| Wahpeton – 18 pts, 5 reb, 2 ast, 2 triples. He played with great energy and effort. Munezero’s shot looked flawless tonight. He gets up and down the floor quickly and he is an efficient finisher. Laterally he is a very quick defender.

[player_tooltip player_id="750184" first="Tyler" last="Tollefson"] (2021) |5-10 G| Wahpeton -11 pts, 1 reb, 1 ast, 3 triples. He has an ultra-quick release on his 3-point shot. He does not need much room to get his shot off. Tyler had a couple of very nice dimes to teammates for layups or a dunk. I liked that he did not back down from bigger defenders when he was attacking the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id="1138774" first="Ethan" last="Manock"] (2023) |6-4 F| Wahpeton - 8 pts, 4 reb. He showed off his athletic ability tonight with two monster 2-handed slam dunks. Ethan is very strong, and he is a great leaper. I like the way he works for rebounds. Ethan moves well without the ball and he is an effective cutter.

Fargo Davies 55 West Fargo Sheyenne 92

Sheyenne put on an offensive clinic tonight. The Mustangs did whatever they wanted, and it seemed like every perimeter shot they took went in. Sheyenne played great defensively. Tonight, was by far the best I have seen them play on defense. The Mustangs had excellent help-side and they showed great effort on defense. Sheyenne completely dominated the matchup in all facets of the game. The Mustangs also made 17 three-pointers.

[player_tooltip player_id="1124528" first="Gage" last="Anderson"] (2021) |5-10 G| West Fargo Sheyenne – 20 pts, 5 ast, 5 triples. He was raining 3-pointers from all over the court. Gage showed tonight why he is an All-EDC Player. He is a 3-point assassin, and he runs the show for the Mustangs. Besides putting on a shooting clinic tonight from outside he was 3-3 from the FT-line. Gage also had a spectacular finish in traffic tonight. His energy and confidence are contagious.

[player_tooltip player_id="731876" first="Jacksen" last="Moni"] (2021) |6-10 F| West Fargo Sheyenne – 19 pts, 11 reb, 5 ast. Besides his double-double, Moni shot 70% from the floor. He was on fire tonight. I liked his post bucket early in the game to prove that he still owns the paint. He added a play to his highlight film with a 2-handed slam in transition. His 3-point shot looked excellent. His team defense with help-side and protecting the rim was just as impressive as his offensive numbers.

[player_tooltip player_id="750178" first="Barika" last="Kpeenu"] (2021) |5-11 G| West Fargo Sheyenne – 12 pts, 3 ast, 2-2 on 3-pointers. He shot it well from outside tonight and his form looked solid. His 3-pointer from the left wing was impressive because he had a hand directly in his face and it did not affect him. His most impressive play might have been the off-balance layup in traffic with a flexible finish.

[player_tooltip player_id="812221" first="Dominic" last="Dosmann"] (2021) |6-8 F| West Fargo Sheyenne – 10 pts, 7 reb, 80 FG%. He played with great hustle and worked hard on the boards. Dominic is an opportunistic scorer. He had a nice put-back basket off an O-board. Dominic looked good in transition scoring and passing the ball. His length on defense gave the Eagles problems.

[player_tooltip player_id="750185" first="Jah’Heem" last="Leake"] (2021) |6-8 F| West Fargo Sheyenne – 9 pts, 4 reb, 4 ast, 3 triples. I enjoy watching how he elevates above everyone else for rebounds. Jah’Heem is a supreme athlete. His shot was on tonight from outside. He could have really racked up the points if it would have been a close game. His length also gave Davies problems on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id="812229" first="Ian" last="Motschenbacher"] (2022) |6-0 G| Fargo Davies – 19 pts, 3 reb, 3 ast, 2 triples. Ian started out hot a looked excellent early on. He made a sweet jump shot and a couple 3’s. Ian kept the Eagles in the game at the start of it. He had a hard-fought offensive rebound basket. He also showed great hustle when getting back on defense and swatting a shot. Ian did not give up in the second half when the game turned into a blowout. He showed heart tonight.
