We are theoretically at the bridge between the end of the high school season and circuit coverage. This year has been difficult for many prospects looking to extend their careers into college due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Furthermore, the NCAA granted an extra year of eligibility to student-athletes in light of the crisis. This waiver is allowed regardless of how many games, minutes, or scholastic class a player is currently in.

I will be doing this list periodically as I believe it is important to give these prospects extra coverage.

[player_tooltip player_id="818705" first="Taderrius" last="Davis"] - Miami High

2021 [player_tooltip player_id="818705" first="Taderrius" last="Davis"] stands at 6-foot-7 with an incredible wingspan. The impressive part about him is he has guard skills for his size. Davis routinely brought the ball up the floor for the Stingarees this season. His backcourt vision was more relative of a natural sized point guard. That athleticism gave him a distinct advantage when driving towards the basket. Davis had the edge to dribble penetrate and soar above the cylinder with his length. He was equally lethal around the paint thanks to his measurables and footwork. Davis averaged 19.2 points, 14 rebounds, 5.1 blocks, 5.1 assists and 3.1 steals on 55 percent shooting from the field. Those are incredibly efficient numbers when you realize the volume of his contributions. His knowledge to play different positions would be an asset at the college level.

[player_tooltip player_id="818824" first="Devin" last="Hines"] - St. Andrew’s

Hines stood out to me when the Scots played Calvary Christian Academy last week in the 3A regional semifinals. The 6-foot-4 combo guard played at a high level against one of the more elite teams in the state. I was particularly impressed with his point guard duties. Hines has plenty of athleticism to attack the rim. Furthermore, he has the quickness and handle to finish with either hand. His size gives him the luxury to absorb and play through contact above the cylinder. Hines scored 16 points and grabbed four rebounds against the Eagles. Moreover, he collected between four and eight rebounds in 13 of 17 games this season. His length and athleticism is a huge advantage in this instance. Hines averaged 13.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while winning a state championship as a junior.

[player_tooltip player_id="1068746" first="Jordan" last="Hinds"] - Cypress Bay

2021 [player_tooltip player_id="1068746" first="Jordan" last="Hinds"] stamped his legacy this season with the Lightning. The 6-foot-4 guard/forward averaged 20.2 points, nine rebounds and three assists on 69 percent shooting from the field. That mark was a single-season school record. His career mark of 56 percent was also a program record. He also happened to shoot 43 percent from deep this season. Basically he was a walking bucket. Hinds is a three-level scorer with elite athleticism. Play him tight or far, he will burn you for points. The resume speaks for itself.

James Nichols - Westminster Academy

2021 James Nichols would be a nice addition to a program at the next level. The 6-foot-5 guard/forward looks really strong for a player at his age. He is a kid that could handle opponents with his size around the rim. I think his type of muscle could really punish opponents late in games. Nichols will wear you out for buckets or boards in crunch time. He also has plenty of athleticism to maneuver past his defenders over the course of a game. I saw him play one of his better games this season against Sagemont a few weeks back. Nichols scored a game-high 20 points on the night and was aggressive attacking the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id="818660" first="Jonathan" last="Renois"] - Somerset Academy - Pines

I saw very few kids with better qualities at attacking the rim than [player_tooltip player_id="818660" first="Jonathan" last="Renois"]. The 6-foot combo guard averaged 17.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game on 46 percent shooting from the field this season. Renois has a strong handle and can get by opponents with his quickness. I really liked his ability to finish with either hand or scoop layups on tough angles. He used his size to create separation and avoid unnecessary contact. Renois can also shoot from the mid-range and from outside. He scored 20 or more points in seven games this season. Against Hallandale, Renois scored 24 points on 10-of-20 from the field. He also scored 17 points and knocked down three 3-pointers against Westminster Christian. Renois is the type of player that can go on offensive runs on his own.

For any South Florida Prep Hoops news or information...please contact Michael Costeines @Steins_23 on Instagram or follow him on Twitter @Mungertown_Mike23.
