SCISA: State Championships

The SCISA basketball season was able to get through the season with its Championship Games this weekend. Prep Hoops takes a look at the Class 1A and Class 3A Games right here. Plenty of UNSIGNED SENIORS took center stage right here in the SCISA State Tourney.
SCISA Class 1A - Anderson Christian 79 Newberry Academy 61
The Lions made it 3 wins over the Newberry Academy Eagles this season. The Lions finished the season at (18-5) under Head Coach Josh Brown. Anderson Christian a senior laden roster were led in scoring by [player_tooltip player_id="995845" first="Bray" last="Greer"] with 18 points, [player_tooltip player_id="869623" first="Xavier" last="Thornton"] 16 points, [player_tooltip player_id="927547" first="Mark" last="Jackson"] 14 points, Braxton Allman 14 points and [player_tooltip player_id="927527" first="Myles" last="Ulmer"] 11 points.
The Lions last won the SCISA Class 1A State Championship back in 2018.
[player_tooltip player_id="927542" first="Payton" last="Gardner"] played his last game in a Eagles (14-4) uniform finished with 33 points while [player_tooltip player_id="1106317" first="Tony" last="McLean"] added 17 points.
SCISA Class 3A - Trinity Collegiate 63 Porter Gaud 54
The Titans picked up its first SCISA Class 3A State Championship under Head Coach Mike Teasley. The Titans (13-4) were led in scoring by junior guard [player_tooltip player_id="746063" first="Tre" last="McLeod"] with 20 points. [player_tooltip player_id="837320" first="Lebron" last="Thomas"] a left-handed guard added 15 points, [player_tooltip player_id="1061081" first="Bewan" last="Balle Bonza"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1063830" first="Dalon" last="Edwards"] both added 10 points in the win.
The Titans played in the State Championship game last season and finished runner-up in the Class 3A. The Titans lost to Cardinal Newman 52-49 last season.
The Cyclones finished the season at (10-1) under Head Coach John Pearson. [player_tooltip player_id="536360" first="Mason" last="Grant"] played his last game in a Cyclones uniform with 19 points. [player_tooltip player_id="1038350" first="Denham" last="Wojcik"] a Harvard commitment finished with 18 points in the loss. The Cyclones last played played in the State Championship back in 2018 with Aaron Nesmith and Josiah James. Wojcik played on the team then as a freshman before moving to Indiana. The Cyclones defeated First Baptist that season 80-63.
