Prep Hoops will take a deeper look at the class of 2023 prospects. Many of these prospects will continue to develop their game, and skill sets through AAU and their high school programs as we prepare to get back in the gym soon.

[player_tooltip player_id="951932" first="Cody" last="Smith"] 6’7 Forward, Liberty Ranch HS. Galt, CA.

The multi sports athlete Smith (Football) has bulked up a bit, that should help him on the court. Smith has good fundamentals in the post area, with decent footwork and finishing with either hand off the glass. He can hit the short corner jumper. He works hard in the paint on both ends, he has good awareness in the paint blocking, and changing shots.

[player_tooltip player_id="950930" first="Derek" last="Lamb"] 6’7 Power Forward/Center. Oakmont HS, Roseville, CA

Lamb is an active post area prospect on both ends of the court. He will sprint the middle of the court in transition, getting ahead sometimes for a bucket. His offensive skill set, and scoring in the paint will have to go up. He will use a face up, and a turn around jumper in the key. Lamb has good hands, and passes well. He can change and block shots.

[player_tooltip player_id="951776" first="Jamar" last="Howard"] 6’3 Combo Guard, Pacific Grove HS. Pacific Grove, CA.

Howard, a slender combo guard who looks to score when he has the ball. He was the leading scorer on his varsity team as a Freshman. 16.5 ppg. He has good balance and speed when he’s making his move, he’s good at getting around the contact. The lefty looks to go left, but can go either way from different angles. He has a high arching 3 that goes in.

[player_tooltip player_id="951340" first="Ains" last="Fish"] 6’5 Forward, Redwood HS Larkspur, CA

Fish is a rising prospect with a good shooting stroke, from mid-range, and 3. He’s good on the catch and shoot, and roaming the perimeter ready to shoot. He has a good face up move, a jumper in the key, and good post footwork when he’s in there. He’s active on the defensive end, with good length to deflect, and change shots.

[player_tooltip player_id="1115058" first="Jake" last="Davis"] 6’7 Forward, Acalanes HS. Lafayette, CA.

Davis is a good sized post player, long with good presence in the post, he changes, and blocks shots. He’s a fundamental player, who sets good screens, moves without the ball, and makes good passes. He has good hands and ready for dump off passes. He’ll go for offensive rebounds, and put backs. His offense is a little behind, any improvement in that area will see his stock rise.
