The GHSA brackets got underway Tuesday across the state, and here are just some of the standout performers in the ATL-Metro from the slate of games:

[player_tooltip player_id="869579" first="Kaleb" last="Washington"], F, Wheeler

(24 pts vs Sequoyah) - There are seemingly always moments in a game where you see the incredible gifts Washington has, the Wildcats and their returning cast would have been favorites for another state title even if he hadn’t transferred in but with him in the fold they are the undeniable favorite.

[player_tooltip player_id="806719" first="Ja’Heim" last="Hudson"], F, Wheeler

(15 pts, 11 reb vs Sequoyah) - Just produces minus the flash and fanfare, but his skill-set is well known from out past the arc down to the low block, a force at both ends.

[player_tooltip player_id="1130499" first="Devon" last="Barnes"], G, Shiloh

(22 pts, 6 reb, 5 ast vs Dalton) - Versatile guard does so many things well, can really attack for himself or be a pass-first PG, aggressive tho the basket but plenty of step-out range.

[player_tooltip player_id="948801" first="Kaleb" last="Banks"], F, Fayette County

(36 pts, 13 reb, 3 ast vs Madison County) - Do-it-all forward has been rising up rankings boards and all over college radars, great size, length and athleticism make him a brutal matchup.

[player_tooltip player_id="869607" first="Jason" last="Edwards"], G, Parkview

(23 pts, 3 ast vs Camden County) - Has been such a spark plug all season at either end, scores in bunches and plays some of the best on-ball defense in the Metro, a true floor leader.

Max Tierney, F, Dawson County

(19 pts, 14 reb, 3 blk vs North Murray) - So active with A+ effort every possession, can kill on the O-glass but has his own game off the catch.

[player_tooltip player_id="870148" first="Malique" last="Ewin"], F, Berkmar

(16 pts, 12 reb vs Lambert) - At 6-10 with a guard’s mentality makes for obvious matchup issues, can knock down 3-balls or slice it through the teeth, exceptional rim protection and instincts are just some of reasons he’s near the top of our 2022 rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id="598778" first="Jameel" last="Rideout"], G, Berkmar (pictured above)

(20 pts vs Lambert) - Continues to put up solid day-in, day-out numbers as he establishes himself as one of the more versatile PG’s in the area.

Wesley Drake, G, Newnan

(14 pts vs Walton) - Jamar Stargell has the exciting buzzer-beater to win it, but Drake showed a sweet shooting stroke and lots of confidence from the perimeter.

[player_tooltip player_id="806764" first="Kyle" last="Duncan"], G/F, Centennial

(15 pts, 12 reb, 2 ast, 2 blk vs South Cobb) - Has proven his versatility on so many occasions, gives the Knights whatever they need on a given night, if there was an MVP vote in Fulton County, he’d be on the ballot.

[player_tooltip player_id="873090" first="Mansir" last="Williamson"], G, Centennial

17 pts, 5 reb, 3 ast, 2 stls vs South Cobb) - The 2023 riser has been steadily gaining confidence and that’s dangerous for opponents, the stat line shows the versatility and he just oozes upside.

[player_tooltip player_id="869588" first="Camron" last="McDowell"], G, McEachern

(21 pts vs Marietta) - Is the kind of scorer in spurts that puts games away early or late, so hard to check with his willingness to pull it from deep or blow-by you and pull up in the mid-range.

[player_tooltip player_id="869583" first="Elijah" last="Tucker"], F, Cherokee

(34 pts vs Peachtree Ridge) - Another big outing for the senior who’s upped his game to some big-time high levels in key spots, when the motor is at full he is just a lot to handle at 6-7 and slithery athletic.

[player_tooltip player_id="820272" first="Kanaan" last="Carlyle"], G, Milton

(33 pts, 5 reb, 5 ast) - Speaking of big outings the highly rated Carlyle continues to post big-time numbers often backed by the spectacular play(s) at both ends, on a team full of notbales he continues to make his own impressive mark.
