This year, there will be plenty of “diamonds in the rough” in lieu of these circumstances. Below are some juniors and seniors who are playing extremely well early in the season and could be diamonds in the rough for a next level program.
Miles Guliford Miles Guliford 6'1" | SG Liberty | 2021 State AZ 6’1 PG 2021 Liberty
Guliford has been monumental in Liberty’s hot start this season. He is a high IQ point guard with as quick of a release as any player in high school basketball. He shoots it with extreme confidence and has improved his passing as well. Further, he is a competitor who has gotten better every year. Guliford is a college guard.
Garrett Anderson Garrett Anderson 6'7" | SF Phhoenix Prep | 2022 State AZ 6’5 SF/PF 2021 SDO
Sandra Day has not received the results that they have wanted early on in a tough region, but they are in every game with Anderson being a huge part of that. Despite only being 6’5, Anderson rebounds at an extremely high rate. He gets 50/50 balls that are out of his area and can score from all 3 levels.
Asher Raquiza 6’3 SG 2022 Pinnacle
Raquiza is a knockdown shooter who is not afraid to let it fly from anywhere on the floor. His ability to connect from deep has and will continue to play a huge role in whatever success this young Pinnacle team has. He has a quick release and can shoot off the dribble as well as in catch and shoot situations.
Nicholas Riley Nicholas Riley 6'8" | C Phhoenix Prep | 2022 State AZ 6’9 PF/C 2021 Chandler
Riley is probably the most well-known name on this list. He is a highly skilled 4/5 who continues to improve every year. His footwork and touch around the rim is impressive. Further, as he has continued stretch out, his motor has improved. He is winning rebounds out of his area that will allow him to compete at the next level.
Jason Kimbrough Jr Jason Kimbrough Jr 6'1" | PG Bella Vista Prep | 2022 AZ . 6’1 PG 2021 Mountain Pointe
Kimbrough is another name who many have heard of but might not get the attention he deserves. He is solid and has a college ready body. He is a capable playmaker who can also execute an offense. He can score from all three levels while also creating for teammates. Further, he is a more than able on ball defender.
