Brady Walthall Brady Walthall 6'0" | PG Moorhead | 2021 State MN hit a deep 3 with less than 10 seconds on the clock to go up by 2. Shanley had a chance with 5 seconds to tie or take the lead and was unsuccessful.
Here are the top players from tonight’s game:
1. Brady Walthall Brady Walthall 6'0" | PG Moorhead | 2021 State MN (2021) |6-0 G| Moorhead – 22 points, 5 three-pointers, and 1-2 from the line. His deep NBA 3-pointer off a SLOB took the lead and won the game for the Spuds. I like his quickness and his ballhandling skills. Brady’s active hands on defense led to deflections and turnovers. He knocked down multiple jump-shots off the dribble today. Brady has a very quick trigger, and he can get his shot off in tight spaces. He is quick in transition and was rewarded with an easy basket after his hustle. Brady made 3-pointers from both wings and from the top of the key. He is like a microwave; it does not take long for Brady to heat up.
2. Conner Kraft Conner Kraft 6'5" | PF Shanley | 2023 State ND (2023) |6-6 F| Shanley – 15 points in the game and 1-1 from the line. He is extremely long and moves well. Conner’s jump shot was going in today. His first jumper came from the baseline, 15 feet out. He has an easy soft shot. I love how active he is on the glass. If he was unable to grab the ball he works hard to get a tip. He was able to get multiple tips that kept the ball alive and a teammate of his was able to grab the O-board. Conner had a great drive and finish from the elbow. He went through contact and finished the “And 1” play from the line. Late in the game, he missed a close shot, but stayed with it, grabbed the rebound, and put it back in for points. He had an impressive play when he reverse pivoted from the wing, sized up the defender, and pulled the trigger on a smooth jumper for 2-points. Conner has a large ceiling with loads of potential.
3. Braden DeKeyser Braden DeKeyser 6'3" | SF Fargo Shanley | 2021 State ND (2021) |6-3 G| Shanley – 13 points and three triples. He was shooting it well early in the game. Braden had a pair of 3-pointers from the corner in the first half. He also had a smooth 15-foot jumper in the first half. Braden anticipates well on defense that results in turnovers for the other team. He had a big-time bucket late in the game to take the lead with the clock under 10 seconds. I enjoy watching how hard he plays and the effort he gives.
4. Trey Feeney Trey Feeney 6'2" | SG Moorhead | 2021 State MN (2022) |6-3 F| Moorhead – 12 points, 1 three-pointer, and 1-3 from the line. He had an impressive block in the second half. It looked like the offensive player was going in for an easy finish, and Trey came out of nowhere to erase the shot. He made a sweet pass to Elmore for a cutting layup. Trey also passed well out of the zone to shooters on the perimeter. He has a nice turn-around jumper from the block. I like how he jump-stops instead of jumping and passing or forcing a shot. Trey showed that he can knock down open 3-pointers with one in the first half. I like how he does not shy away from contact when finishing.
5. Emmet Kenney (2021) |6-3 G| Shanley – 8 points in the game. He had the first points of the game. I was impressed with his hangtime on a layup when he double pumped and was still able to make the layup. He delivered a dime to Pollert for a layup against the Spud zone-defense. Emmet made a clutch pull-up jump shot with 1:43 left in the game to take the lead back.
6. Mekhi Elmore (2022) |5-10 G| Moorhead – 9 points and 3-3 from the line. He is a quick player whose motor never stops. Mekhi had an impressive cut and layup in the first half. He has an electric spin-move. Mekhi had an aggressive drive and finish in the second half. He was fouled on the finish and he completed the basket with a fancy flip shot. Mekhi made important free-throws in the second half.
7. Tyler Kraft Tyler Kraft 6'2" | SG Shanley | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-3 G| Shanley – 7 points and 3-3 from the charity stripe. He was fouled on a missed 3-pointer and followed it up going 3-3 from the line. Tyler has an excellent looking jump shot that he finishes with a high release. I am impressed with how he squares up his shoulder and feet before he shoots.
8. Belind Alemadi Belind Alemadi 6'1" | PG Moorhead | 2021 State MN (2021) |6-1 G| Moorhead – 6 points in the game. He is lightning quick. I was impressed with his 1-handed pull-up jump shot. Belind had a gigantic bucket with under a minute in the game to take the lead.
9. Matthew Hulstein (2021) |6-4 F| Shanley – 4 points and 2-2 from the line. He moves well without the ball. I liked his cut and finish against the zone defense. Mathew had an impressive O-board in the second half, and he was fouled on the put-back. He confidently put in both shots.
10. Adam Jenkins (2023) |6-7 F| Moorhead – 4 points and 2-4 from the line. I like how he works for the offensive rebounds. I lenjoyed his footwork in the post and his baby hook-shot. His hustle up and down the court was impressive. The tallest guy on the court was the first one down many times.
