The Columbus Clash: No. 1 Spencer vs. No. 5 St. Anne-Pacelli

<p>No. 5 St. Anne-Pacelli held off host No. 1 Spencer to hand the Greenwave their first loss of the season. The win for St. Anne-Pacelli puts them in the current lead for the mythical Columbus city championship. Here are some top performers from the 77-70 thriller. </p> <p><strong>2022 5-10 PG Randall Dixon – Spencer</strong></p> <p>Randall Dixon broke out on Wednesday as a much-needed shooter for Spencer. He drilled four first half threes, all from the left side of the floor – three from the left corner. Dixon did a nice job of being shot-ready and having a quick trigger when he got the chance to shoot. He provided good energy on defense and helped get some key stops in the fourth quarter.</p> <p><strong>2021 6-0 PG Jaquez Holt – Spencer</strong></p> <p>While he didn’t hunt his offense all that much, Jaquez Holt was able to make a positive impact in other ways. Holt is an athletic guard that plays hard. Known for his mid-range jumper, Holt scored on two drives and made plays as a distributor and rebounder. Holt tallied 9 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks. Holt is one of the better guards still available in Georgia and is a sleeper out of Columbus.</p> <p><strong>2022 6-5 F Dalen Thomas – Spencer</strong></p> <p>The big lefty impressed early on for the Greenwave. He had a hard baseline drive to open the night before hitting a tough runner in the lane. Thomas was on the receiving end of two nice set-up passes that led to slams. On defense, he guarded St. Anne-Pacelli’s point guard. Thomas has some versatility and has yet to ever play travel basketball. He could be a late blooming forward with some upside.  </p> <p><strong>2021 6-5 SG [player_tooltip player_id="948589" first="Travis" last="Harper"] – St. Anne-Pacelli</strong></p> <p>Deuce was locked in. He converted three And-1s as he showed the ability to score through contact even with his slender frame. Harper scored at all three levels. He hit some trademark outside shots and finished in the lane. Travis is a smooth scorer but he did even more than just put the ball in the bucket. He finished with 29 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 1 steal. Harper is an interesting prospect that has offers from both D-I and D-II programs. He has the skill to become a productive player at the next level and will get even better with more time in the weight room.</p> <p><strong>2021 6-0 PG Pierre Summers – St. Anne-Pacelli</strong></p> <p>Pierre Summers had a breakout performance, stealing the show and carrying the Vikings to the finish line in a 77-70 win. Summers scored nine of St. Anne-Pacelli’s first 11 points in the fourth quarter as the Greenwave made a furious comeback. Summers was all over the floor throughout the game. He was tough in transition, finishing difficult shots in traffic. His energy was infectious. He won every 50/50 ball. Summers hit timely shots from the perimeter, sinking three deep balls. Pierre played unselfish basketball and often got the ball to Harper in scoring positions. He piled in 28 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. A standout running back, Summers was a dynamic X-Factor.</p>
