Players are heating up too as there have been some stellar individual performances that have been put on display.
Prep Hoops is here to cover all of the madness of this season, including this article which highlights some early season performances from players in the Bicentennial Conference, beginning in the Constitution Division.
Jake Hilton: Junior, SG/PF Jenkintown
Hilton has impressed in his first three games at Jenkintown, averaging 16.3 PPG and shooting at a 58 percent clip thus far. While a small sample size, after shooting 3-for-10 in Jenkintown’s season opener, he rebounded in his last two, going 16-for-23 from the field and 8-for-12 from beyond the arc. Hilton is also averaging around 8.0 RPG with 23 total boards in his first three games. Watch out for him to continue to impress in the new year.
Trevor Tipton Trevor Tipton 6'5" | PF Phil-Mont Christian | 2021 State PA : Senior, G Philadelphia Montgomery Christian Academy
Tipton has one of the highest scoring averages in the division, including the highest scoring average for any player who has played in three games or more, 18.7 PPG thus far. His last two games have been by far his best, averaging 21.5 PPG over those two, including a 20-point performance in a dominant 69-18 win over Quakertown Christian where he shot 7-for-8 from the field and 6-for-7 from three. Tipton is also averaging 4.7 RPG thus far, which should increase as the season goes on.
Chris Evans Chris Evans 6'3" | SG Neumann-Goretti | 2021 State PA , Junior, SG Faith Christian Academy
Evans has only had the ability to play one game this season, but in that one game, he showed out, scoring 24 in a 73-32 win over Calvary Baptist. He nearly out-scored his opponent by himself and had an impressive game, shooting 10-for-15 from the field and 4-for-7 from three. He also added six rebounds and four assists to those 24 points, something to keep an eye out for, especially his passing. That will add another level to Evans’ overall game.
David Olinger David Olinger 6'5" | PF Phil-Mont Christian Academy | 2022 State PA , Junior, F Philadelphia Montgomery Christian Academy
Olinger has had an impressive three-game stretch to start the 2020-21 season, averaging 14.0 PPG and 9.3 RPG, as well as 3.1 APG, 2.0 SPG and 0.7 BPG. He’s shooting at a 55 percent clip to start the season and despite him progressively scoring less points as the season has progressed, don’t worry too much about that. Olinger, just like everyone across the country, is adjusting to this new, unprecedented season, and it’s a small sample size. He’s already posted one double-double this season, one of many for sure.
Honorable Mentions
The duo of junior Shaquille Grimes and senior AJ Brown AJ Brown PF Bristol | 2022 State PA combined for 31 of Bristol’s 47 points in its season-opening 55-47 loss to Jenkintown. Grimes and Brown shot a combined 11-for-23 from the field and had seven total steals. Watch those two develop during the season as they will make Bristol a competitive and exciting team to watch.
