Week 8 in Nebraska High School Basketball featured a bevy of interesting matchups across the state. Whether it be cross-class matchups, the renewing of rivalries, or even conference championship games, this week had a little bit of everything. Here are some prospects who stood out in some marque games on Friday Night.

[player_tooltip player_id="890462" first="Ajantae" last="Hogan"] - Lincoln Southeast

One of the leading scorers in Class A, and one of the top uncommitted 2021 prospects in the state, [player_tooltip player_id="890462" first="Ajantae" last="Hogan"] can get going in a hurry. On Friday night Hogan and the Lincoln Southeast Knights hit the road to Fremont, and Hogan had himself a night. In a stat sheet stuffing performance, the 6’4 senior guard finished the night with 34 points on 11-17 shooting from the field, as well as 10-14 from the free-throw line. As if the 30 ball wasn’t enough, Hogan also added 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. When Hogan is on, and putting the ball on the deck, he is a scoring force to be reckoned with.

[player_tooltip player_id="890463" first="Denim" last="Johnson"] - Omaha Central

There may be no more physical guard in the state than Omaha Central’s [player_tooltip player_id="890463" first="Denim" last="Johnson"]. The 6’0 senior usually jumps for the tip-off and is often than not tasked with defending the post player for most opposing teams. On Friday night against Omaha South, Johnson did more of what he’s done all year, powering inside and finishing through contact. With his 18 points on the night, he eclipsed the 1,000 point milestone for his career. He also added 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in the Eagles’ victory. Johnson remains one of the top uncommitted senior prospects in Nebraska.

[player_tooltip player_id="958180" first="Sam" last="Hoiberg"] - Lincoln Pius X

Going on the road to Kearney is no easy task. Not only are the Bearcats always a tough out, but they also have one of the more advantageous home courts in the state. Lincoln Pius X made the trip west on Friday night and they made it out with a big road victory. Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id="958180" first="Sam" last="Hoiberg"] has been the catalyst for the Thunderbolts all season long, and this remained the case Friday night against the Bearcats. Hoiberg finished the night with 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. The 6’0 senior is one of the stronger finishers around the rim in the state when it comes to guards, and of course, he has a quick trigger from behind the 3 point line.

[player_tooltip player_id="890579" first="Luke" last="Lindenmeyer"] - Papillion La-Vista

Friday night brought about the annual battle for Papillion between the hosting Monarchs and the visitors from Papillion La-Vista South. The star of the night for the host Monarchs was 6’4 junior [player_tooltip player_id="890579" first="Luke" last="Lindenmeyer"] who finished the game with 19 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. This came on a perfect 7-7 shooting from the field to go along with a 5-6 mark at the free-throw line. Papio has played quite a tough schedule to this point and they are much better than their record indicates. Lindenmeyer is certainly a name to watch when it comes to 2022 prospects in the metro area.

[player_tooltip player_id="890580" first="Daniel" last="Brocaille"] - Papillion La-Vista South

Another junior who stood out in the Papillion rivalry game was Titan forward [player_tooltip player_id="890580" first="Daniel" last="Brocaille"]. The 6’5 junior guard is as tough as nails, and plays hard for 32 minutes each and every game. He wound up with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals against Papio High and has been having a stellar junior campaign for the Titans. Brocaille’s stock should be on the rise for the remainder of the season.
