Expert Analysis
Steve Quattrocchi | Prep Hoops Scout
Hand was one of the more steady players in Louisville over the course of his career. Able to finish around the rim and absorb contact, Jacob was consistently scoring 15+ and grabbing 6+ rebounds per night for 4 years. He’s still undecided on his college decision.

Hand is a versatile wing that has great size and is a threat all over the floor to score the basketball. He was extremely effective getting the ball trailing to drive. Defenders for Saint Xavier were too small to guard him which posed as a mis match. His shot wasn’t falling but he has a smooth left handed stroke. Love his game.

One of the better scorers in Louisville, Hand is athletic with good size and a capable jumper. Jacob can be a good rebounder when he wants to go and get the ball. A true wing, Hand sometimes has to play out of position in the post but he’ll be a true wing in college.

Another power wing who used his athleticism to get above the rim, Hand was one of the more productive players at the camp. With a high motor and relentless aggression to attack the rim, Hand was scoring at will in the paint. The lefty seemed comfortable going up with either hand at the rim and liked using his right hand to throw down dunks when he got enough space to explode. Defensively, Hand had numerous blocks on drives to the rim by using his length and timing to swat layups away. A dual sport athlete, Hand excels on both the hardwood and the diamond for Holy Cross and should have college interest for whatever sport he chooses.

Jacob is one of the better pure scorers in Louisville and is the best player to come through Holy Cross since I’ve been covering high school basketball with Prep Hoops. Hand has good positional size and is capable of making multiple threes per game in addition to being a good athlete.

Another athletic wing who flourishes at attacking the rim, Hand is one of the best pure scorers in this position group. Jacob is very bouncy and an excellent finisher at the rim. To reach his prospect ceiling, he’ll need to improve his three point shooting numbers but Hand has the physical tools to play at the D1 level.

One of the best Class A players in Kentucky, Hand is athletic and aggressive on the court. He’s shown he can score in bunches and is capable of carrying his team on offense for stretches when needed. His college ceiling remains to be seen but Jacob should be a scholarship level player in college.

Jacob was one of the most valuable small school players in Kentucky last season and is on the short list of best Juniors in Louisville. His recruitment has been quiet thus far but there is no doubt that the 6’4 wing has the athleticism and shooting to make it at the scholarship level. Colleges should take note as Hand is a bit of a hidden gem in the 502.
