On Sunday, January 10th I viewed the Diamond in the Rough unsigned senior showcase at AZ Compass Prep via BallerTV.

Here were some of the players who shined from AZ:

[player_tooltip player_id="809671" first="Isaiah" last="Broady"] AZ Compass Prep (Pictured)

-You never know what you will get in these types of settings but Broady played well. He moved the ball, made shots from deep, took it inside the lane, finished with either hand and played way above the rim on the break. He was one of my co-MVP’s of the showcase. He made the game look easy playing the point forward role.

[player_tooltip player_id="1035631" first="Joshua" last="Uduje"] AZ Compass Prep

-An athletic guard can get into the lane and flush it down with authority. He hit perimeter jumpers but slashed the lane and showcased his supreme athleticism. He can take a rebound off the glass and push it with his speed and athleticism and score it in traffic. He plays the passing lanes well and makes good reads to teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id="809681" first="Keiren" last="Brown"] St. Mary’s

-A thick PG who drove and kicked it out to shooters well. He also got out on the break and made some fancy passes for scores to teammates. In a world of players taking bad shots in showcases, Brown played the right way and it definitely caught my eye. He moved without the ball to get some easy buckets and rebounded the ball well among the trees using his stronger frame. He unfortunately looked like he pulled his hamstring or was cramping up and smartly took himself out of the action.

[player_tooltip player_id="959690" first="Tre" last="Bell"] Heritage Maricopa

-Bell did what Bell does and that he is shoot it with range. He is undersized but has a stocky and strong frame to take contact. He can get into the lane with a burst and finish. His 3pt shot makes his game go and then can give a shot fake and pull-up from mid or drive it.

[player_tooltip player_id="809714" first="Malik" last="Mack"] Bella Vista Prep

-A pest on the ball defensively. He is constantly tipping the ball away with his quick hands. He stays on the ball defensively just about good as anyone in the CAA with supreme lateral quickness and speed. Offensively, he can score it using his burst to get passed his defender and make layups plus throw it down. He also made a catch-3 showing he is progressing as a shooter.

[player_tooltip player_id="879991" first="Max" last="Kunnert"] Hillcrest Prep

-Not many better catch shooters in the state then Kunnert. He moves smartly without the ball and just knows how to play. His understanding of the game gives him an advantage despite being an under the rim scorer. He relocates to set up his shot and launches it quickly. He is a smart player and on a loaded Hillcrest Prep team, he actually starts many games for them giving their athletes more space.

Jack Lerner PF 6’7 2021 Hillcrest Prep

-A long and lanky forward with deep 3pt range and a fast trigger. He has big confidence and he can handle it decently for his position and size. He can rebound in his area despite being a little thinner, but plays hard on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id="1074790" first="Stephen" last="Coleman"] Hillcrest Prep

-A strong guard can pull-up off the dribble from the 3pt line. He has a thicker frame and strength to post up defenders. He uses the pick and roll game to his advantage and cuts to the basket for easier scores. He defended well on and off the ball. He told me that he recently de-committed from Siena and will go into the 2022 class with a post grad year.
