Ah, what can I say? We are knee-deep in conference play and high school basketball in the state of Idaho is turning out to be quite a rollercoaster of talent, skill, cross-town rivalries, and of course: snow. As teams are beginning to gel and players are finding their roles within the team, the stakes have never been greater and many great players have begun to show all of their skills and abilities. In no time, it will be March and the state tournaments will be played as I reminisce on my favorite high school basketball memory of beating Madison in the opening round of the state tournament. Continue reading for a look at a handful of recent games from the state of Idaho.

Columbia vs. Middleton: In the clash of 4A rivals, Columbia and Middleton battled for sole possession of first place in the 4A SIC. Unfortunately, this game was limited thanks to some touchy refereeing as the main bigs from both team were in early foul trouble and stayed that way for the remainder of the game. Nonetheless, it was still an excellent game that truly did feature the top two teams in the 4A SIC. Columbia was able to seal the victory with a clutch free-throw shooting display, as well as [player_tooltip player_id="919695" first="Joe" last="Schulkins"] stepping up and adding 17 points. [player_tooltip player_id="1111852" first="Jaylen" last="Alexander"] was in foul trouble for the majority of the game but also added 18 points for the Wildcats. Middleton was led by 14 points from [player_tooltip player_id="919692" first="Cash" last="Cowdery"] and [player_tooltip player_id="921074" first="Tyler" last="Medaris"] added 11.

North Fremont vs. Firth: North Fremont was able to cement their position as one of the best teams in the state after improving to 11-0 with a win over Firth. North Fremont applied a lot of defensive pressure and held Firth to scoring double-digits in only one quarter throughout the entire game. Firth was unable to overcome the tough defense and could not match the fire power of the North Fremont team during the conference matchup. North Fremont was led by [player_tooltip player_id="969679" first="Luke" last="Hill"] scoring 13 points, Max Palmer adding 11 points, and [player_tooltip player_id="969481" first="Jordan" last="Lenz"] contributing 8 points.
