Week Six: Top Guards

<p>Which nine guards showed up and played well in week six of the Wisconsin high school basketball season? </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="801141" first="Casey" last="Verhagen"] -- PG -- Sheboygan Lutheran</strong></p> <p>Sheboygan Lutheran has one of the best point guards in the state in Verhagen. The 2022 prospect is a versatile player who can do it all. This week, he showed how dangerous of a scorer he is, as the PG dropped an impressive 46 points in a win. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="880011" first="Luke" last="Healy"] -- CG -- Hudson</strong></p> <p>Healy is a prospect that I feel doesn’t get enough attention. The 2021 combo guard is consistently excellent. In three games this week, Healy scored 73 points in three victories for Hudson. I expect Healy to make a name for himself at the next level. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="994507" first="Gunnar" last="DeCleene"] -- SG -- Bay Port</strong></p> <p>DeCleene is a prospect that showed some impressive traits at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo back in the fall. This season, he has turned potential into productivity. <span style="font-size: 1rem;"> DeCleene had his best game of the season this week, as he scored 35 points in a win over Notre Dame. </span></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="806560" first="Jordan" last="Johnson"] -- CG -- Elkhorn</strong></p> <p>Johnson remains one of the most slept on players in Wisconsin's 2021 class. The Elkhorn combo guard is a lethal scorer who can fill it up in a hurry. On Friday, Johnson poured in 34 points in a tough road win over Union Grove. </p> <p><strong> [player_tooltip player_id="804898" first="Brandin" last="Podziemski"] -- SG -- SJNMA</strong></p> <p>Podziemski could make his way onto this list pretty much every week. This time out, the shooting guard netted 41 points for SJNMA in a win on Friday over Hope Christian. Expect Podziemski to become a really good player at the next level. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="988976" first="Greyson" last="Pritzl"] -- SG -- West Allis Cental</strong></p> <p>Following his great summer showing with Wisconsin RAP, Pritzl has been having a very solid high school season. The 2022 guard had one of his better games this week, as he scored 27 points in a winning effort over New Berlin Eisenhower. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="880029" first="Tre" last="Valeriano"] -- PG -- Pius XI Catholic</strong></p> <p>Valeriano might be the best isolation scorers in the state of Wisconsin. In a very close win over New Berlin West on Thursday night, the point guard chipped in 30 points to pace his squad. College programs should keep an eye on this outstanding guard. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="761407" first="Luke" last="Haertle"] -- SG -- Lake Country Lutheran </strong></p> <p>When he is ready to commit, I predict that there will be a number of college programs that are begging Haertle for his services. The LCL shooting guard is a tough, gritty player who wins games. Haertle scored 60 points in two wins this week. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1017075" first="Jalen" last="Womack"] -- PG -- Menasha</strong></p> <p>Womack has been a rising prospect for quite some time now. The speedy point guard out of Menasha tallied his first career triple-double on Tuesday. If he keeps improving, Womack could be a big stock-riser this summer. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
