BCSL Player of the Year Candidates

<p>The Burlington County Scholastic League is one of the top conferences in Central and South Jersey with Moorestown, Trenton Catholic and Burlington City residing in it. Current VCU wing <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="850324" first="Jamir" last="Watkins"] </strong>was dominant last season, but he is not the only impact player in the league. Here are the top player of the year candidates to watch in the BCSL this season.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="850548" first="Freddie" last="Young"] Jr., 6’3 PG Trenton Catholic 2021</strong></p> <p>The Iron Mikes need someone to replace Watkins’ scoring and Young Jr. looks to be the guy. The 6’3 guard is a good floor general as he knows how to get his teammates involved and can run the offense. Young Jr. can beat his defender off the bounce and can finish in a variety of ways around the basket. He has a nice release on his jumper and makes plays on the defensive end. Young Jr. is a skilled guard prospect who is ready to lead the Trenton Catholic offense.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="929515" first="Logan" last="Jagodzinski"], 6’6 SF Moorestown 2021</strong></p> <p>The Quakers have been one of the top teams in the conference over the last two years and that should continue with Jagodzinski returning. The Rochester commit is a lanky wing prospect that can attack the basket from the perimeter. Jagodzinski can finish above the rim and has the ability to finish shots through traffic. He skies for rebounds and is an underrated passer. Jagodzinski is ready to lead Moorestown’s offense this season as the Quakers look to continue their run of dominance.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="933735" first="Stefano" last="Faloppa"], 6’8 SF Holy Cross Prep 2021</strong></p> <p>The Lancers have to replace current Delaware guard <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="896450" first="Gianmarco" last="Arletti"]</strong> and they have a good wing prospect in Faloppa. The Italian native can handle the ball on the perimeter and is a good finisher around the basket. Faloppa has a nice mid-range jumper and is capable of running the offense in a pinch. He uses his size and length to defend multiple positions and is a strong rebounder. Faloppa is a talented wing prospect who should have a big final season for Holy Cross Prep.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="901959" first="Marcus" last="Gaffney"], 6’2 CG Northern Burlington 2022</strong></p> <p>The Greyhounds had an up and down 2019-20 season, but they will get a scoring boost out of Gaffney this season. The 6’2 combo guard is strong with the ball in his hands and knows how to run the offense. Gaffney is a play-maker when he gets into the lane and is a good finisher around the basket. He is a strong on-ball defender and is a good rebounder for a guard. Gaffney is a good lead guard prospect who is ready to lead the Northern Burlington offense.</p> <p><strong>Shawn Congleton, SG Doane Academy 2021</strong></p> <p>The Spartans ended their season on a low note, but they should bounce back with Congleton getting more looks on the offensive end. He has a nice release on his jumper and is capable of getting hot from distance in a hurry. Congleton moves exceptionally well off the ball and knows how to draw contact. He is an underrated defender and is a strong rebounder for a guard.
