Our final installment of the public school season preview features the NCHSAA 4A division. Last season this division featured plenty of talent as well as quite a few upsets when state tournament time arrived.

The name to know in the state playoffs last year was Pinecrest HS Senior Guard [player_tooltip player_id="838055" first="Bradlee" last="Haskell"]. He led his team on an oustanding run to the regional championship game which only helped his recruitment to get a nice boost prior to the spring and summer. He’s matched up with players that have already signed to play on the D1 & D2 levels and has played well in just about all those matchups.

Pine Forest Sophomore Guard [player_tooltip player_id="949379" first="Isaiah" last="Washington"] is hands down one of the best Guards in the Class of 2023 in NC. He put together some nice performances last season but this season his team will need him to be even better as well as being a leader. We fully believe he is capable of getting the job done, he’s a High Major prospect who doesn’t seem to get intimidated by an situation.

Lumberton HS will be back this season and will look a tad bit different but they should not be overlooked. They team will compete as hard as they always do and they return multiple guards (Seniors [player_tooltip player_id="1028026" first="Charlie" last="Miller"] & Jadarian Chatman) that were key role players last season for their team.

Millbrook HS Senior Forward [player_tooltip player_id="574413" first="Eric" last="Van Der Heijden"] will take on a larger leadership role this season with numerous players from last year moving on to the next level or different schools. The Louisville signee has nice size at 6’9 as well as shooting ability from mid and three point range.

Laney HS Senior Guard Makoa Suriago is a name that you may not hear alot about but he’s a legit smaller colllege prospect who put together some nice performances over the summer with 24 Elite. His IQ for the game and shooting ability are two areas that he really stands out above the rest. We fully expect for him to have a big season for Laney not only on the court but also with his leadership off the court.

Garner Magnet Junior Forward [player_tooltip player_id="577885" first="Asa" last="White"] has plenty of potential and will have the opportunities this season to be one of the leaders of his team. When he’s locked in and aggressive, he’s a player that college coaches are very intrigued about. The key for White will be to bring the same intensity on a nightly basis throughout the year.
