Let’s take a look at some of the players at public schools on Long Island. Joseph Andrew Iadevaio. 5”11. 2022. Plainedge HS A very competitive player. Hard-nosed team player. Real good on the ball defender. A pest makes the opponent work to get the ball. Can shoot the three. Needs to improve getting to the basket to open up his jumper. Chris Naronis 5”10. 2022. Floral Park HS All conference player. A three-sport athlete. Very athletic. High motor. Good shooter. Can be a little streaky at times but when he’s hot he can lead you. Working on being more consistent with his shot. Jamir Stewart 5”10. 2022. Baldwin HS A point guard who can knock down shots. A flat out scorer. Good handle and can score in a variety of ways. Does not take possessions off. Plays hard all the time. Improving on making the players around him better, since he is running the offense most of the time. Cyriac Porthussery 5”9. 2021. Syosset HS Has been on the varsity since he entered high school. A hard worker and displays leadership qualities. Usually the best on the ball defender on the court at all times. Extremely quick first step. Finds ways to get to the basket. A strong mid-range game. Looking to expand his range. DeAndre Blagrove 6”4. 2022. Malverne HS No surprise that Deandre also plays football. In the paint, he is a space-eater. Hard to move in the post. Can finish around the rim. Gets his team extra possessions. Defensive presence. Intimidating force. But he is more than a big body who can step out and hit the perimeter jumper. But it is a work in progress to make it more consistent. Because of the shut down might come up short. A nice get for a school looking for a shooter.
