I headed up to Coral Springs to take in the prestigious Kreul Classic tournament. The Kreul has been a fixture in South Florida for more than 30 years. The organization and maintenance of this year’s event has been particularly impressive due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Kreul Classic is nationally recognized for inviting some of the top basketball programs from across the country. This year, the four-day showcase featured some of the top basketball schools in Florida thanks to Covid-19.

Let’s look at my observations here in part two...

[player_tooltip player_id="955802" first="Cameron" last="Johnson"] - Miami Norland

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="955802" first="Cameron" last="Johnson"] has been a catalyst to the Vikings 6-2 start. The 6-foot-4 wing is averaging 16.6 points and 4.6 rebounds on 59 percent from the field per the latest statistics via MaxPreps. At the Kreul Classic, Johnson scored 18 points against Westminster Academy and was named to the all-tournament team. In three tournament games, Johnson scored 54 points (18 PPG). He is an athletic offensive weapon and attacks the cylinder with great efficiency. Johnson can guard multiple positions and use his length to disrupt passing lanes.

[player_tooltip player_id="953078" first="Abedola" last="Adebayo"] - Canterbury (Fort Myers)

2021 [player_tooltip player_id="953078" first="Abedola" last="Adebayo"] earns my Southwest Florida plug after his performance at the Kreul. The 6-foot-8 forward sparked Canterbury to a huge victory over Westminster Academy on Monday. Adebayo was disruptive blocking shots and using his size against 2022 Ben Middlebrooks. On offense, Dola used his athleticism around the rim to score 11 points. He is the total package with those two traits. The Mount St. Mary’s commit is averaging 16.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per MaxPreps. Adebayo seems to ascending in regards to his basketball potential. 2021 guard Alan Cedeno was also big in that victory over the Lions with 21 points, including clutch free-throw shooting down the stretch.

[player_tooltip player_id="818692" first="London" last="Previlon"] - Stranahan

2021 [player_tooltip player_id="818692" first="London" last="Previlon"] led the Mighty Dragons with 16 points in a 57-54 victory over South Miami. The 6-foot-6 forward scored an additional 22 points the previous night against Archbishop Carroll. Previlon is a long kid with the athleticism to run in the Dragons system. He was a big reason Stranahan went 2-1 at the tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id="953073" first="Christian" last="Pujals"] - South Miami

2021 [player_tooltip player_id="953073" first="Christian" last="Pujals"] had a terrific showing vs. Blanche Ely. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard scored 26 points and knocked down six 3-pointers against the Tigers. Overall, Pujals scored 54 points and hit ten 3-pointers in three contests. He was named to the all-tournament team for his efforts.

Gunner Walters - Grandview Prep

2022 Gunner Walters was named to the all-tournament team after his performances in Coral Springs. The 5-foot-10 point guard scored 17 points and knocked down three 3-pointers against Boyd Anderson. Moreover, Walters scored 20 points and hit a pair of 3-pointers in a victory over Dillard. Against Miami Country Day, the Pride junior scored 17 points. In addition, 2021 Pedro Brown scored 27 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Grandview against the Spartans. Brown is an impressive 6-foot-7 at the small forward spot. He was offered by Southeastern Louisiana University back in May.

[player_tooltip player_id="1068615" first="Paxton" last="Kafka"] - Cardinal Gibbons

2021 [player_tooltip player_id="1068615" first="Paxton" last="Kafka"] was one of the top scorers over the course of the tournament. The 6-foot-5 small forward scored 48 points across three games. Against Highlands Christian, Kafka scored 22 points and hit a pair of 3-pointers. He was named to the all-tournament team by the Kreul.

[player_tooltip player_id="1068699" first="Micah" last="Bell"] - Archbishop Carroll

2021 [player_tooltip player_id="1068699" first="Micah" last="Bell"] is a player to be on the lookout for. The 6-foot-4 point scored 39 points across two games for the Bulldogs. Bell has the natural size and strong athleticism for a backcourt guard.

For any South Florida Prep Hoops news or information...please contact Michael Costeines @Steins_23 on Instagram or Follow him on Twitter @Mungertown_Mike23.
