What five players in South Dakota had the biggest weekends? Here is our PHD Starting Five as in our Top Five performers.

Juron Adams of Tiospa Zina (6’1 Guard, Jr). The Wambdi has been in nightly battles this year and they are starting the season against a tough schedule without three of their top guys from a season ago. Luckily Sisseton transfer Juron Adams has helped the transition bursting out of the gates with a jumper that’s hitting from several angles. Adams had 26 sinking four three-pointers in a big overtime win over White River.

[player_tooltip player_id="975543" first="Zane" last="Alm"] of Mitchell (6’10 Center, Sr). Future USF Cougar [player_tooltip player_id="975543" first="Zane" last="Alm"] has been the catalyst for Mitchell who is 4-0 this season. Alm’s weekend included 27 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 blocks in a one point win over Stevens on Saturday, and a 17 point, 10 rebound double-double the night before in an eight point win over Central. Alm is a prospect that really came on later in his junior year and he’s showing his potential as a top player in his class.

[player_tooltip player_id="975564" first="Zach" last="Bertolotto"] of McIntosh (6’3 PF, Sr). The Tigers grabbed their first win of the season defending the honor of the state beating South Border (ND) by a dozen. Bertolotto looked at the opposing roster, saw only one senior, nobody bigger than 6-foot-1, nobody bigger than 180 pounds, and smiled like the Grinch. Bertolotto than preceded to power his way to 32 points and a nice victory.

[player_tooltip player_id="968164" first="Payson" last="Gohn"] of Wolsey-Wessington (6’4 PF, Jr). I’m going to let you in on a little secret, the 11th ranked team in Class B right now is Wolsey-Wessington. And by the new year - if they keep beating solid teams like Highmore-Harrold by double digits - this team will climb the list. A big reason for that is junior [player_tooltip player_id="968164" first="Payson" last="Gohn"]. Payson has been a force and last weekend in the big win over the Pirates, Gohn scored on 9 of 11 attempts plus he grabbed 11 boadrs in the win. Gohn and senior [player_tooltip player_id="975554" first="Tristan" last="Abbott"] are a dangerous pair.

[player_tooltip player_id="757858" first="Micah" last="Swallow"] of RC Central (6’3 Wing, Sr). The Cobblers are 2-1 this season beating Huron and Douglas, but falling to Mitchell. Micah has given his team all he has battling the big Mitchell frontline for a crazy 31 points and 15 boards. He also led his team to a bounce back victory with a double-double of 22 points and 11 boards beating Huron by a dozen.
