COVID-19 has pushed the start of practices until January 11, giving players an extended layoff. Getting game time was imperative for players as they were trying to impress college coaches over the summer. It was especially important to the 2021 class as they will be suiting up for college programs next season. Here is a look at the film of the 2021 prospects.
Jackson Patton Jackson Patton 5'11" | PG Rumson Fair-Haven | 2021 State NJ , 5’11 PG Rumson Fair-Haven
Patton plays under control with the ball in his hands and does not make many poor decisions. His biggest strength is his quick release on his jumper as he wastes little motion in getting his shot off. Patton can shoot the ball off the dribble or off the bounce, making him equally dangerous. He is more than just a shooter as he can also get into the lane and finish around the basket.
Josh Liberato, 5’11 PG South Plainfield
Liberato plays with quick hands on the defensive end and can stay in front of his man. He is at his best in the open floor as he can use his speed to finish around the basket or push the ball ahead via the pass. Liberato is a good passer and is especially dangerous when he gets into the lane. He is a crafty finisher around the basket as he can make layups with either and does not mind contact.
Destiny Nwanko, 6’0 PG South Plainfield
The second straight Tiger on this list, Nwanko is a physical guard prospect who can finish through contact around the basket. He uses his handle and speed to create space to free himself in the halfcourt, but also uses it to push the pace in transition. Nwanko shoots the ball with confidence from deep and can shoot either off the catch or off the bounce. He attacks the basket with a purpose and is capable of making good passes in the lane.
Daniel Bills, 6’0 PG/SG Westfield
Bills is a knockdown shooter from deep with a smooth release on his shot. The lefty guard sets his feet before he shoots and knows how to move off the ball. Bills can also put the ball on the floor and finish around the basket. He plays with great instincts on the defensive end and is unafraid to scrap for loose balls to save possessions for his team.
Freddie Young Freddie Young 6'3" | PG Trenton Catholic | 2021 State NJ Jr., 6’3 PG Trenton Catholic Academy
Young Jr. has a tight handle and is capable of breaking his defender down off the bounce. He shoots the ball with confidence from distance and has the ability to shoot the ball off the dribble. Young Jr. is a good passer when he gets into the lane and is capable of finishing over the top of defenders at the basket. He moves his feet well on the defensive end and is at his best in transition.
