In a game that went back and forth all night, the Liberty vs Basehor matchup featured a ton of college level talent, great coaching, and a post season level of competitiveness. Liberty came on top late by 7, lets take a look at some of the notables from last nights big time competition.

Top Performers

2022, 6’4 G [player_tooltip player_id="952433" first="Jordan" last="Brown"], Basehor-Linwood: Brown put on an absolute scoring clinic finishing with a game high 41 points, dropping an incredible 30 points in the first half. He made a living from behind the arc hitting contested 3 after contested 3 on really good defenders, but he also showed some more of the repertoire, finishing in the mid range game and getting to the foul line. Brown’s stock continues to rise, and last night’s offensive performance will put many more on notice.

2022 6’4 G Bennett Stirtz, Liberty: Stirtz is an all around rock solid guard and can play the lead guard and off ball spots. He rebounded the ball extremely well and was a physical throughout the evening getting to the foul line and putting the Bobat defense in tough spots. Stirtz put up a 24 point performance and made a ton of big time plays in the fourth quarter to seal off the win.

2021 6’2 G [player_tooltip player_id="824152" first="Javion" last="Byers"], Liberty: Byers is a really good college level guard prospect who has great athleticism and play making ability. In transition last night he was tremendous either getting to the rim or making the right pass to get his teammates into scoring positions. Byers dropped 20 points and started off hot hitting three long balls in the first quarter.

Other Notable Performances

2021 6’6 F Kellen Goodwin, Liberty: Goodwin had not been a player I have noticed or seen before, but did he make a massive impact last night for Liberty. He added a much needed 19 points from the 4/5 spot and he filled it up from all areas of the floor. For his size, he stretched the floor well hitting a couple of jump shots and his activity and finishing around the painted area gave Liberty a huge boost.

2021 6’1 G Javin Shaw, Liberty: Another athletic and physical guard, Shaw gave Liberty a nice aggressive piece attacking from the perimeter. He is really solid getting into gaps and finishing off drives.

2022 6’1 G Carter Bergman, Basehor-Linwood: From a scoring standpoint, Bergman was the Bobcats second option on the night. He shot the 3 ball tremendously well throughout the night and hit a couple of huge shots during scoring droughts. Bergman is a really solid piece to what will be a really successful Bobcat team.

2022 6’2 G [player_tooltip player_id="891910" first="Trevor" last="McBride"], Basehor-Linwood: Offensively, it was not McBride’s best night, or most aggressive, but he hit a huge three late in the ball game to tie it at 67. However, he spent a lot of his time guarding the multiple tremendous guards Liberty has. McBride’s on ball defense is always there and he showed he is up to the task guarding athletic guards last night.

2022 6’4 G [player_tooltip player_id="1050176" first="Luke" last="Stubbs"], Liberty: Much like McBride, overall it was not Stubbs best offensive game, but he impacted the game in a variety of ways and made a couple of momentum grabbing plays in big spots. His willingness to rebound the ball allowed for Liberty to get a couple of big extra possessions as well.

Other Stand Out Box Scores from Thursday

2022 6’3 G [player_tooltip player_id="984953" first="Always" last="Wright"], Joplin: The older Wright brother dominated in Joplin’s win scoring 29 points and dishing out 11 assists.

2024 6’3 G All Wright, Joplin: The younger Wright brother added in for Joplin, scoring 15 points in the win. The freshman is putting together a really solid freshman season.

2021 6’4 G Max Schnelle, Lockwood: 28 points in a win over Jasper.

2022 6’6 Wing [player_tooltip player_id="1045828" first="Deuce" last="Roberts"], St Michael’s: Filled the stat sheet scoring 22 points, grabbing 8 boards, and distributing 7 assists

2022 5’8 G JJ Adams, St Michael’s: Lit it up from 3, going 7 of 9 from beyond the arc and finishing with 24 points.

2022 6’4 Wing Zack Clark, Cair Paravel: 20 points and 3 rebounds in a tough battle against Maur Hill Prep

2022 6’6 F/C [player_tooltip player_id="1076408" first="Noah" last="Hastert"], Cair Paravel: Put up a strong double double and almost got the triple double finishing with 14 points,14 rebounds, and 9 assists.
