We take a look at the favorites and the team to be aware of as the season tips-off in two days.

Region 1

Layton has too much and on paper they’re Goliath. They have the tallest front-court in the state with [player_tooltip player_id="755612" first="Ethan" last="Potter"] and [player_tooltip player_id="966026" first="Preston" last="Squire"]s, both are Division 1 prospects.

Beware: Don’t overlook Davis, they have a lot of shooting. [player_tooltip player_id="934473" first="Rex" last="Sunderland"] and Henry Ihrig can really play.

Region 2

Cyprus & West Jordan will likely split home games. Cyprus brings a dynamic team that likes to push the pace. [player_tooltip player_id="934030" first="Quentin" last="Meza"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1057025" first="Diego" last="Mulford"] will be hard to contain. West Jordan has a lot more players that will distribute the load but keep an eye on [player_tooltip player_id="934507" first="Logan" last="Prince"] who’s stock went up at the end of last season.

Beware: Kearns could really make a jump. Keep a eye on Johnny Gasaloga.

Region 3

Bingham has a mixture of youth and experience. They have 4 players that could lead the team at any given night, [player_tooltip player_id="543098" first="Jordan" last="Toscano"], [player_tooltip player_id="968084" first="Kam" last="Dupaix"], Devin Carlston and [player_tooltip player_id="955324" first="Justis" last="Reiser"]. They will be tough to beat.

Beware: Riverton might be that team that will sneak up on people. [player_tooltip player_id="955327" first="Cody" last="Nixon"] is poised to have a great year.

Region 4

American Fork has the horses to compete with anyone. [player_tooltip player_id="1046067" first="Jaxon" last="Kohler"] is one of the best 2022 players in the country. They will be in a battle every game in Region 4.

Beware: Lone Peak is that sleeper team that just plays with a high level of intensity. [player_tooltip player_id="755613" first="Cameron" last="Brimhall"] is going to be key to their success.

Region 5

Farmington will have too much of [player_tooltip player_id="934472" first="Collin" last="Chandler"] for anyone to handle but dont forget about Truman Henry, the kid is a load inside.

Beware: Bonneville is a well coached team that might surprise someone.

Region 6

Olympus has two players that will be must watch in [player_tooltip player_id="755622" first="Ben" last="Krystowiak"] and Jack Wistricill who can both light it up from deep.

Beware: Murray is always overlooked, we will not overlook them this year.

Region 7

Timpview is the favorite in all of 5A with guys like [player_tooltip player_id="755614" first="Jake" last="Wahlin"] and [player_tooltip player_id="543075" first="Coleman" last="Ford"] coming back.

Beware: Alta is so good and [player_tooltip player_id="755620" first="Jaden" last="Brownell"] could really cause problems for teams.

Region 8

Provo has some talented unknown players like [player_tooltip player_id="933811" first="Juan" last="Carlos Camargo"].

Beware: Payson has some shooters and a big that can really play some inside out game.

Region 9

Dixie lost some guys but they return a lot of talent and they will be deep. [player_tooltip player_id="933803" first="Isaac" last="Finlinson"] is a great floor general.

Beware: Cedar has all the pieces to really make noise with [player_tooltip player_id="543078" first="Dallin" last="Grant"] and [player_tooltip player_id="543097" first="Treyton" last="Tebbs"]. They will be tough to beat.

Region 10

Juan Diego has a lot of returners and none better than the speedy [player_tooltip player_id="755615" first="Talon" last="Valdes"] that can score with the best of them.

Beware: Tooele and [player_tooltip player_id="755616" first="Justin" last="Rodgers"] will battle, with some shooting they will be a tough out.

Region 11

Ridgeline has a lot of players that can score. They will be without Caden Cox for awhile as he is nursing a broken leg. but they have the guys to still make a run.

Beware; Logan returns a lot of upperclassmen Jadin Penigar should make a jump this season.
