Staten Island COVID November Recruiting Update

<p>With COVID-19 still affecting New York City still very hard, Staten Island has arguably been hit the most. Not only are athletics still not back to normal, but schools are shut down indefinitely from across the island. With that, many players are in different places than they expected to be at this time of year, and with the season ordinarily picking up steam right about now, we thought it would be good to see where some players are this season.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1048133" first="Eric" last="Londis"] | St. Peters</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1048133" first="Eric" last="Londis"] has had arguably the best offseason out of anywhere. Already being one of the best overall players on the Island, he had a busy September while most people were still sidelined. Londis was picking up offers from all over the Northeast, including Utica College, and now, pending acceptance, Londis will be taking his game to the next level at Keene State.</p> <p><strong>Uriah Logan | St. Peters</strong></p> <p>While Londis had a busy offseason including a commitment, Logan wasn’t exactly lacking either. The speedy point guard excelling both on the court and in the classroom has been virtually, and colleges took notice. He has been heavily looked at by universities, and recently walked away with offers from JUCO D1 Portland Community College and NAIA D1 Carlow in what figures to only be the beginning.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1048075" first="David" last="Shkolniy"] | Mater Dei</strong></p> <p>Opposed to Londis and Logan, Shkolniy was previously attending New Dorp, which plays in the PSAL, a larger league but with likely more stringent COVID rules. In order for Shkolniy to have a better chance at some senior year basketball, Shkolniy decided to transfer to Mater Dei in New Jersey. The sharpshooting wing has also impressed in the AAU circuit this season, demonstrating versatility on the Blackwood as well.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1048547" first="Patrick" last="Gardner"] | Farrell</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1048547" first="Patrick" last="Gardner"] has been a dual-sport athlete in high school, and as he looks towards college, he hopes to continue doing the same. The shooting guard has had a knack for scoring to the rim, but has also controlled the strike-zone on the mound as a southpaw. Next season, he will be attending DII College on Staten Island and take to the hardwood in winter and the mound in spring.</p> <p><strong>Nico Pena | Xaverian</strong></p> <p>Nico Pena is the youngest player on this list by far, but that only means he has the most potential. Pena is a current class of 2024 freshman, and originally was slated to attend Wagner. Pena has since decided to join Brooklyn powerhouse Xaverian and play out at least this season as a Clipper, and has already had an impact at varsity practices. As we wait to see him in high school, one can only imagine what he is capable of.</p>
