Class 3A – Region 1 Preview

<p>Prep Hoops takes a jump into the Class 3A ranks now throughout the Palmetto State. This Upstate Region will have a few new faces this season. Read more about all the action right here on your source for basketball coverage in the Palmetto State. </p> <p><em><strong>Predictions: </strong></em></p> <p><strong>Daniel HS (Central) - </strong>The Lions had a strong season last year and finished the year at (23-6) playing in Class 4A.</p> <p><strong>Seneca HS - </strong>The Bobcats have plenty of weapons here along some serious scoring power. </p> <p><strong>Wren HS (Piedmont) - </strong>The Golden Hurricanes will rely on [player_tooltip player_id="536359" first="<strong>Josh" last="Owens</strong>"] with the departures of [player_tooltip player_id="536314" first=<strong>"Bryce" last="McGowens</strong>"] and [player_tooltip player_id="949986" first="<strong>Amauri</strong>" last=<strong>"Johnson</strong>"]. The Golden Hurricanes dropped down from Class 4A this season. </p> <p><strong>West-Oak HS - </strong>[player_tooltip player_id="840238" first="<strong>Slater" last="Miller</strong>"] is looking to have a breakout season. </p> <p><strong>Belton Honea Path HS -</strong> The Bears finished (9-17) last season. </p> <p><strong>Pendleton HS - </strong>The Bulldogs finished last season at (2-21)<strong>. </strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><em><strong>Players to Watch in the Region:</strong></em> </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="594072" first="Bobby" last="Taylor"] (2022) - Daniel HS (Prep Hoops CO Region Player of the Year)</strong></p> <p>Taylor a left-handed point guard guides the Lions offense out top. Taylor averaged 15.9 ppg and 5.1 assists last year. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="930603" first="EJ" last="Evett"] (2022) - Seneca HS </strong></p> <p>Evett is a standout on the hardwood and the football field. Evett recorded 22 receptions - 372 yards this season in 5 games for the Bobcats. Rogers has scored 864 points the past two seasons. Rogers averaged 17.9 ppg last season for the Bobcats. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="927551" first="Levi" last="Leard"] (2021) - Seneca HS </strong></p> <p>Leard is a great role player and steady option for the this squad. Leard brings a lot of varsity experience to the table this season. Leard averaged 9.5 ppg and 6.6 rebounds last season. Owens averaged 13.5 ppg last season for the Golden Hurricanes.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="840238" first="Slater" last="Miller"] (2021) - West-Oak HS (Westminster)</strong></p> <p>Miller plays really off the grid playing in the Northwest corner of the Palmetto State. Owens a small forward will be a nice added piece to the Lions roster. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="865291" first="Jaxon" last="Burnette"] (2023) - Seneca HS</strong> </p> <p>Burnette transferred in from nearby West-Oak HS. Burnette excels on the gridiron as a football player to boot as a quarterback. Burnette will be a welcome addition to the Bobcats basketball team. </p>
