Grind Session Group 1: AZ Junior Standouts Nov 11-12

<p>November 11th and the first game on the 12th I attended the first session of <strong>The Grind Session Group 1 #Bubble</strong> located at the Phhacility in Phx,AZ.  </p> <p>I viewed AZ Compass Prep vs Phhoenix Prep and then Dream City Christian vs Phhoenix Prep. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Results: </strong></p> <p>Dream City Christian 75 <strong>Phhoenix Prep 77 </strong></p> <p>Phhoenix Prep 78 <strong>AZ Compass Prep 85</strong></p> <p>Both highly entertaining games with good talent and the usual fun drama. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>All 3 teams are ranked 1-3 in the new update. </p> <p>https://twitter.com/thegrindsession/status/1327718785449529344</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Here were the junior standouts of the three teams. (Not a lot of Junior standouts as all 3 of these teams heavily rely on seniors) </p> <p><b>[player_tooltip player_id="1074744" first="Shaedon" last="Sharpe"] Dream City Christian</b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">-One of the more explosive players in the country is a tough cover. His pull-up from mid-range is nearly impossible to defend as he raises up higher then anyone, and he can make the catch-3 with range. He can split defenders and he makes shots in traffic with impressive body control. He scored 31 pts in the two-point loss.  </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">He made arguably the best dunk of Group-1 on this play:</span></p> <p>https://twitter.com/overtime/status/1327057523640250374</p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">[player_tooltip player_id="703808" first="Duke" last="Brennan"] <b>AZ Compass Prep</b></span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">-The lone junior on the team in double figures. He is tough inside with his back to the basket and has the polished hook shot plus rebounds well in his area and blocks and/or challenges shots. He can improve his defense in space moving forward. </span></p> <p><b>[player_tooltip player_id="826999" first="Andrew" last="King"] Phhoenix Prep</b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">-Well known as a catch and shoot 3-pt shooter but it was his defense that impressed me. He can defend the the 1 and 2 and did about as well as you could versus top notch guards of the two teams. He is a smart player and tough. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">He committed early to <strong>Rice.   </strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">[player_tooltip player_id="706704" first="Dominic" last="Capriotti"] </span><b>Phhoenix Prep</b></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">-Dom shot the cover off the ball versus both teams. He came off the bench and was firing away per usual from downtown with range. He also showed the ability to take a few dribbles and pull-up from mid. He crashed the offensive glass for put-backs and gave the Fire another weapon to utilize late in the game. He committed early to <strong>Northern Colorado.   </strong></span></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1074745" first="Birima" last="Seck"] <strong>Dream City </strong></p> <p>-The long big man runs well and is very fluid. He gobbles up rebounds in his area and blocks shots out of his area. He can defend different positions on the court and he is just scratching the surface to becoming his best self. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1080826" first="Jaden" last="Clayton"] <strong>Dream City </strong></p> <p>-A pure PG finds players effortlessly. He can make the open 3 and uses his speed and burst to get into the lane and makes a play off of it. He can use his right or left hand and slip in a pocket pass to a teammate. An unselfish player that sets the table and plays with a good pace to his game. </p>
