While we’re certainly taking things one day at a time, the prospects of high school basketball occurring in the DMV this winter are more promising now than they have been in quite a while. In anticipation of this, we will be rolling out preview content over the next several weeks. Here is a look at the Preseason All-Junior Teams for DC Private Schools.

First Team

G - [player_tooltip player_id="904663" first="Rob" last="Lawson"]

Carroll will likely go as far as Lawson takes them. The dynamic lead guard is a one-man full-court press who is dangerous in transition. Lawson’s ability to get the best out of his teammates consistently will ultimately be key to his team’s success.

G - [player_tooltip player_id="837921" first="Devin" last="Dinkins"]

Dinkins has stepped up in the biggest moments under the bright lights on many occasions throughout his relatively short high school career. We don’t expect anything different moving forward from this seasoned guard.

G - [player_tooltip player_id="777066" first="Judah" last="Mintz"]

Mintz is known for his scoring prowess but doesn’t get enough credit for his defense. Look for him to be a two-way impact player in every game.

G - [player_tooltip player_id="904626" first="Shane" last="Lancaster"]

Lancaster will have added responsibilities this season, and he seems up to the task. The 6-foot-4 combo guard should be a difference-maker for his team on both ends.

F - [player_tooltip player_id="904624" first="Christian" last="Watson"]

Watson matured before our eyes last year in the postseason, draining a clutch trey to help his team pull out a critical win in the opening round against Good Counsel. His confidence is booming at the moment and he appears primed for a breakout junior year.

Second Team

G - [player_tooltip player_id="904652" first="Cam’ron" last="Brown"]

Brown’s playmaking ability proved to be essential to his team’s success last season. The reliable lead guard should be able to replicate those solid performances for Carroll throughout the upcoming campaign.

G - [player_tooltip player_id="904673" first="Miles" last="Hicks"]

Hicks might be one of the best-kept secrets in the city. He’s grown, his skills have improved, and he looks ready to absorb an increased role at St. Albans.

G - [player_tooltip player_id="837925" first="Chris" last="Gamble"]

Gamble is considered one of the premier defenders in the city. He should not be pigeonholed as just a defensive player though. Gamble has worked hard on his offensive game and that work is beginning to show.

F - [player_tooltip player_id="904642" first="Jared" last="Turner"]

Turner has quickly established a reputation as one of the most dangerous shooters in the area. He’s close to 6-foot-7 now and appears poised to embrace a bigger role.

C - [player_tooltip player_id="1049814" first="Nicholas" last="Evans"]

Evans might surprise some rivals in the WCAC when he steps on the floor for Gonzaga. The long and wiry forward has a chance to develop into one of the more forceful paint presences that we’ve seen there in recent memory.

Third Team

G - [player_tooltip player_id="904651" first="Ridge" last="Parks"]

Parks will be asked to control the tempo as Maret’s primary ball-handler and most menacing on-ball defender. He’s had some big games this fall and should be able to handle the responsibility.

G - [player_tooltip player_id="954639" first="Dylan" last="Bronner"]

Bronner is an intriguing wing prospect who had some big games as a sophomore. Consistency will be paramount as he hopes to lead GDS to new heights.

F - [player_tooltip player_id="904629" first="Quinn" last="Clark"]

It will be interesting to see what Clark does with the opportunity that seems to be available for him this season. He has the potential to become a significant impact player down the road for Coach Turner.

F - [player_tooltip player_id="904625" first="Brock" last="Davis"]

You know what you’re going to get from Davis each night. He’s a workhorse and a building block of the GDS program.

F - [player_tooltip player_id="777068" first="George" last="Perkins"]

Unlocking Perkins will be the determining factor of whether or not this Sidwell group reaches its ceiling. He’s made positive strides this fall, is looking to dunk in traffic more, and is trending in the right direction.
