I made the trip to Northeast Florida to catch the Under The Radar Hoops High School Showcase at West Nassau High in Callahan.

There were around 75 high school prospects taking part in the showcase. Pictured above are the Top 20 players selected for the All-Star Game.

Here is a look at the prospects that stood out to me the most.

[player_tooltip player_id="714983" first="Tarence" last="Guinyard"] Ι 6-1 Ι Lee

The most confident and consistent playmaker in the gym was Guinyard. His combination of speed and court awareness is always on full display. The 2021 Lee guard was dishing out passes to his teammates in sets and in transition. His 3-point jumper is seasoned and when he needs to score at the rim, he can do that in a variety of ways. Guinyard has really blossomed over the last year and a half into a true dual-threat scoring point guard. He is going to be a steal for any college program.

[player_tooltip player_id="1060170" first="Keenan" last="Johnson"] Ι 6-7 Ι West Nassau

Johnson is dripping with upside. The skinny but rangy 2023 forward was hitting outside shots with ease, getting inside and finishes with lay-ins and dunks and using his steady foot speed to his advantage. The versatility of Johnson is something that will help him as he continues to improve. He made the switch from Impact Christian to West Nassau and should be a feature piece at his new school.

[player_tooltip player_id="818881" first="Tyeree" last="Bryan"] Ι 6-4 Ι Olympia

Making the trip from Orlando, Bryan was impactful from the jump in these showcase games. The 2021 forward plays a smart style of basketball, can shoot from the mid-range when he needs to and always uses his athleticism on attacks inside. He had several dunks in every game in transition pushes. Bryan is in for a major season at Olympia. Division II D’Youville offered him in August.

[player_tooltip player_id="1068618" first="Jasper" last="Clements"] Ι 6-2 Ι West Nassau

It was nice to see the continued progression from Clements. The 2021 guard joined West Nassau earlier in the summer via Impact Christian and will fit right in with his aggressive guard play. He’s always looking to score as a shooter or attack and plays very unselfishly. Clements speed was fun to watch all day Saturday and he was scoring in bunches.

[player_tooltip player_id="818735" first="Quinton" last="Jackson"] Ι 5-10 Ι Paxon

Jackson had a steady day as his mix of pure strength and speed was hurting defenses time and time again. His mid-range pull-up was working well and he was constantly getting others involved with his quick first step passing. Jackson is in line for a really good senior year at Paxon as the lead point man.

[player_tooltip player_id="1060169" first="Leon" last="Whitley"] Ι 6-0 Ι West Nassau

It is quite clear when you first watch Whitley that he also plays football. He is not afraid of any downhill finish and certainly absorbs contact well. Whitley, a 2023 West Nassau guard was rock solid all day long and is someone who can really flourish this season as a sophomore. His 3-point jumper is certainly an asset as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="1065462" first="Bennie" last="McDuffie"] Ι 5-8 Ι Mandarin

Undersized point guards have to be tough and McDuffie is exactly that. He’s vocal, active and always looking to mix it up on both ends of the floor. The 2022 Mandarin guard was constantly getting up and down the floor on the break and getting inside for finishes and quick feeds. He is going to be a lightning bolt as a junior.

[player_tooltip player_id="818854" first="Ty’Rion" last="Denson"] Ι 6-7 Ι Mainland

Built like an offensive lineman, Denson has very nimble feet and his jumper is very polished for a player at his size and frame. He was hitting step-back jumpers, finishing on inside cuts and simply commanding a lot of attention from defenses. The 2021 Mainland forward will have to continue to work on his conditioning to further his stock this fall.

Other names to know:

[player_tooltip player_id="953424" first="Simeon" last="Womack"] Ι 6-2 Ι West Nassau - Playmaking is in Womack’s blood. The 2021 guard transferred from Stanton to West Nassau and will help alongside a deep group of active two-way guards.

Wallace Grissett Ι 5-10 Ι Christ’s Church - Grissett came to get known and it worked. The 2021 guard was aggressive as they come with his attacking ability and his jumper in transition worked often.

Isaac Jubran Ι 5-11 Ι Bolles - A consistent threat to score, Jubran stood out with his mid-range shot and his knack for a big play as a passer and driver. The 2022 guard will be relied upon at Bolles.

[player_tooltip player_id="1055802" first="Caden" last="Charlton"] Ι 6-1 Ι Wolfson - Only a freshman, the 2024 guard was sound as they come as a shooter. Still growing into his body, he should have a chance to succeed at Wolfson.

[player_tooltip player_id="955793" first="Kahlyl" last="Samuels"] Ι 5-9 Ι Mandarin - Samuels has a seasoned jumper and was hurting defenses in every game I saw him play. The 2022 guard will be a scoring threat at Mandarin this fall.

Noah Coker Ι 6-2 Ι Christ’s Church - Coker plays hard and he was shooting at a high clip on the day. The 2021 guard/forward is up for heavy minutes at Class 2A program Christ’s Church.

[player_tooltip player_id="1065429" first="Miller" last="Dahl"] Ι 5-10 Ι Sandalwood - Every time I see Dahl, he seems to always play hard and with a chip on his shoulder. A smaller 2022 guard who likes to drive and score, he will have a nice junior year.
