“Let’s Get Ready IV was a sold out event with players attending from all over the state of Michigan. This was the most talent I have had so far in one camp setting.”
“In remembrance of such a great camp, this year I wanted to list The Top 15 performers with the help of my buddy Scott Hankamp.”
“This list was very hard to compose as there were so many great players at camp. And for those who didn’t make the list, I only suggest that you keep working hard and use this as motivation.”
“Below is my list of the Top 15 performers at camp. This list is not in any order, but only represents the production they had at camp.”
– Coach Dell Johnson
1. Aidan Rubio Aidan Rubio 6'6" | SF Goodrich | 2021 State MI 2021 Goodrich – Was the MOP of Let’s Get Ready IV. He won the award because he was tough. He didn’t back down from any trash talk, contrary it seemed to fuel him as he took over his last two games with clutch buckets and thunderous dunks. I told him he reminded me of Dominique Wilkins.” – Coach Dell Johnson
2. Malachi Black Malachi Black 6'7" | PF Detroit University Prep Art & Design | 2021 State MI 2021 United Prep Academy – “I first saw this young man a couple of years ago and I thought then that he had tremendous upside but that he couldn’t shoot. Well he must have been in the gym working, as he is now shooting the ball very well from midrange and the 3. He can also play inside where he is dominant with his athletic ability and touch around the rim. I say D1 with confidence.” – Coach Dell Johnson
3. Lavell Broadnex 2021 Saginaw – “Well I almost changed the name of the camp to “Lavell Get Ready” because of all the calls and interest from college coaches reaching out to me before the camp even started. This dude is crazy explosive, even pulling off a nasty 360 dunk. He can also shoot very well and his motor is unmatched. I can’t blame all the coaches for wanting him!” – Coach Dell Johnson
4. Jeremiah Henderson Jeremiah Henderson 6'0" | PG Detroit PershingArts & Media | 2022 State MI 2022 CMA – “Was very impressive with his strong finishes to the basket and his willingness to play tough hard-nosed defense. One thing I noticed right away was that he has very strong legs. I didn’t see that on tape. But it was evident when showcased his explosiveness when driving to the basket. I am sure colleges will start recruiting him heavily!” – Coach Dell Johnson
5. Dj Voltz 2022 Carrollton – Started off slow and then he got in his bag, dropping dimes all over the court and numerous alley oops to Broadnex. He also continues to show the clutch gene with the game winning 3 against the Menifield team. He definitely didn’t disappoint the Princeton program and other colleges recruiting him!” – Coach Dell Johnson
6. Jovante Jones 2021 Carrollton – “Shot the highest shooting percentage in camp. This young man just didn’t miss from midrange or from the 3. Jones has the right temperament to be special. He is a team player and he plays to win. I’m looking forward to Jones receiving many offers this year!” – Coach Dell Johnson
7. Donavon McDonald 2023 Croswell Lexington – “I got on this kid real hard during the camp and hollered at him when I thought he was playing weak and not rebounding. And yet, even though I’ve never coached him before, he accepted my criticism and then went into beast mode…was scoring down low at will, hitting deep 3s and rebounding strong! He definitely gained my respect!” – Coach Dell Johnson
8. Kyree Haye 2021 Mount Clemons – “This kid has raw talent and a great motor…he stayed around the ball which helped him get buckets and offensive rebounds. He also played very unselfishly which made his teammates play better. I really like the upside on this kid and I’m expecting great things from him.” – Coach Dell Johnson
9. Kentrell Pullian Kentrell Pullian 6'0" | CG Benton Harbor | 2021 State MI 2021 Benton Harbor – “After seeing the tape on Kentrell and talking to his AAU coach Marcus Lancaster, I knew he could play. But his tape didn’t really do him justice. This dude can flat out ball. He is strong and can get to the basket at will. He stays in attack mode. High D2 and D1 schools should be recruiting this young man NOW!” – Coach Dell Johnson
10. Brady Titus Brady Titus 5'10" | PG Tri-Unity Christian | 2022 State MI 2022 Tri-Unity Christian – “May be listed at 5’10, but he plays like he’s 6’4. This dude is a true point guard who doesn’t turn the ball over. He is very unselfish and he makes his teammates better. And when you need a bucket, he’ll go get it! No doubt about being a D1recruit. He’s solid!” – Coach Dell Johnson
11. Jaylen Hodges Jaylen Hodges 6'3" | PG Bridgeport | 2021 State MI 2021 Saginaw Bridgeport – “Is a straight baller and that’s the best way to sum him up. He loves to play this game and you can see it with his tenacity on defense and his enthusiasm when he consistently dunks on 6’9″ and 7 foot centers. He really enjoys playing and he is only getting better. He should be heavy recruited by all schools including D1.” – Coach Dell Johnson
12. Michael Justice 2021 Troy Athens – “I know that I call a lot of guys underrated, but listen when I say that this big dude can ball and he’s not getting the attention he deserves. One referee during the camp said to me ’Coach, who is the big kid with the glasses… he just dropped like 30 points and he didn’t say a word the whole game’. I laughed, but I knew exactly what he was saying! He reminds me of Tim Duncan with his sound fundamentals and efficiency.” – Coach Dell Johnson
13. Brent Wiles 2021 New Haven – “This young man is as tough as they come and I think the other campers were not prepared for his aggressiveness. He went hard the whole camp, playing defense, scoring buckets, rebounding, and he never seemed to get tired. Brent was very impressive and I’m sure he has many more offers on the way!” – Coach Dell Johnson
14. Keyon Menifield Keyon Menifield 6'2" | PG Flint Beecher | 2021 State MI 2021 Flint Beecher – “Keyon’s game reminds me of Jamal Crawford. He is silky smooth who navigates his way to the basket and can finish with both hands the same. Not to mention that he was probably the best game shooter in the building. One thing he did that we weren’t aware that he could do is when he caught a 2 hand nasty put back dunk. He’s the truth and deserves every D1 offer he gets!” – Coach Dell Johnson
15. Nick Ellis Nick Ellis 6'7" | PF Grand Ledge | 2022 State MI 2022 Grand Ledge – “Another big man with a quiet demeanor but a killa out on the court. He has soft hands and can finish very well. He’ll set hard picks and rebound. Nick could play for me any day. He is a premier big man in this state who should also be getting high major offers!” – Coach Dell Johnson
