The Baltimore Black Panther Fall League completed its seventh week today. I take a look at standout from the slate of games that I was in attendance for.

[player_tooltip player_id="957020" first="Mike" last="Williams"] | 6’2 | Towson Cardinals ‘23

Williams le the attack for the Cardinals. The 6-foot-2 sophomore was hounded the entire game by the Panthers’ top defender on the floor, but he didn’t allow that from stopping him. He got to his spots effectively off the bounce and showed great pace getting into his shot from 15 feet. Williams recorded 12 points despite coming up short in a tightly contest game.

Isaiah Williams | 6’2 | Towson Cardinals ’24

Younger brother to Mike, Isaiah is an extremely intriguing prospect in the freshman class. He presents good size for his position and is equipped with elite athleticism. On multiple occasions he finished around the rim despite much taller defenders draped over him. He’s strong with the ball and a capable shot-maker from mid-range and three with space. Williams finished with 12 points in the loss.

[player_tooltip player_id="712747" first="Julian" last="Reese"] | 6’9 | Panthers ‘21

As he has seemingly every week, Reese imposed his size inside and overwhelmed the Cardinals. He was responsible for at least a handful of offensive rebounds and blocks. When he wasn’t finishing around the rim, Reese was being patient and finding open perimeter players once the defense double-teamed him. The Maryland commit scored 25 points, collected over a dozen rebounds and blocked eight shots in the win.

[player_tooltip player_id="904668" first="Elijah" last="Davis"] | 5’11 | St. Frances ‘21

Davis only finished this game with four points, but his presence was much bigger than the number on the box score would show. Davis’s constant pressure on the ball manufactured several turnovers and Fastbreak opportunities for the Panthers. Davis accounted for five steals himself, but he also caused deflections and dove on the floor for what seemed like countless loose ball scenarios. Offensively, he set the table for others and got the ball to scorers in spots where they’re most effective.

[player_tooltip player_id="837931" first="Kevin" last="Kalu"] | 6’9 | Cougars ‘21

Kalu continues to impress me more every time I see him. What catches my eye most is how hard he plays. He runs the floor consistently and with intent to make a play on either end of the floor. On multiple occasions, Kalu slammed a two-handed dunk and sprinted back on defense to protect the rim or secure a defensive rebound from a quick shot. Rumor is Kalu will be looking to do a post-grad prep year after this season. If I was a prep coach, I’d get involved immediately.

[player_tooltip player_id="957019" first="Kwame" last="Evans"] | 6’8 | Our Family vs Your Team ’23

I liked how aggressive Evans was today with the ball. I’ve been fortunate enough to see Evans plenty this summer and he had a habit of settling for jumpers. Today he was determined to get to the rim and finish even through contact. It eventually opened his outside game and he took advantage by converting on those looks to put the defense in an even more difficult position.

[player_tooltip player_id="904628" first="Deon" last="Perry"] | 5’9 | Cougars ‘22

Perry ran the show as usual for the Cougars while also leading them in the scoring column with 18 points. He operated well in ball-screens and when given even a glimpse of daylight from three, he pulled the trigger and made shots. On his drives to the rim, he finished strong and with craft to avoid shot blockers. Perry was matched up against 2022 guard [player_tooltip player_id="777095" first="Bryce" last="Lindsay"] and did a nice job moving his feet and keeping him contained as much as one can.

[player_tooltip player_id="904622" first="Tobi" last="Nnadozie"] | 6’2 | Cougars ‘22

Nnadozie’s improved jumper is something to monitor closely. The 6-foot-2 guard is arguably the most athletic player in Baltimore today, but last season teams often times would play 3-to-4 feet off of him because of his inability to make shots. Nnadozie has proven with his play this fall that he now must be accounted for beyond the arc.

[player_tooltip player_id="902030" first="Barry" last="Evans"] | 6’6 | Our Family vs Your Team ’21

Evans is steadily becoming more comfortable playing with this group. He is becoming more effective at picking his spots and knowing when to attack gaps off the catch when he’s on the perimeter. Evans was at his best today attacking the rim, embracing contact and finishing through fouls. He’ll be a very important piece for Poly’s success this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="904659" first="Sammy" last="Scott"] | 5’6 | Green Machine ’22

There weren’t many bright spots for the Green Machine in their loss, but Scott put forth an admirable effort and made just about everything go on the offensive end. Scott is a shifty, quick-twitch guard who can get into the paint routinely and create for others. His teammates struggled to finish around the rim, so Scott shifted his focus on being more aggressive himself and scored often.
