Border League Recap: Bracket Play Standouts

<p>The Border League kicks off this weekend. The event features over 80 teams and takes place throughout the Gilbert, Arizona area. In this article, PH takes a look at some of the top performers from bracket play. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="827004" first="Blessing" last="Nwotite"] <em>6’2 SG Paradise Honors 2022 (#35PHA 2022)</em> <em>(feature image)</em> - It was a blessing to see Nwotite play. Physical specimen with a solid frame and a good second jump. He was good in transition and showed nice use of the lost art of the mid-range game. </p> <p>Carter Welling <em>6’9 PF Corner Canyon 2021 (#9PHU 2021)</em> - Welling was a dedicated rim runner that showed good hands and surprising athletic ability. He has a good touch especially from the foul line, and his rebounding and rim protection helped power CC into the Championship Round of the Nevada Bracket. </p> <p>Trace Ross <em>6’3 CG Corner Canyon 2021 (#20PHU 2021)</em> - Ross and Welling formed a terrific 1-2 combination. The combo guard played with a wiggle and showed that he has the ability to beat opponents with his jumper. CC takes on Cap city in the title game. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="856637" first="Sebastian" last="Mack"] <em>6’1 CG Durango 2023 (#1PHN 2023)</em> - I’ll say this for Mack, I’ve never been to a game where he doesn’t bring it. The combo showed off elite finishing ability along with capable teammate creation ability. As always his outside shooting was on point, including a cold-blooded 3 he hit in the semifinal game. Behind the play of the sophomore, Durango has reached the championship game of the California bracket. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="986954" first="Taj" last="Degorville"] <em>6’3 SG Durango 2024 (#3PHN 2024)</em> - Degorville has broken out of a summer slump with back to back terrific performances. He is a unique player that can be classified as a 2,3,4 or point forward type. He’s found his outside shot as his 3 point shooting helped the Trailblazers reach the championship game. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="934598" first="Jaylen" last="Wesley"] <em>6’3 PF McClintock 2022 (#76PHA 2022)</em> - I love rebounders and Wesley is one of the best ones I’ve seen. He’s undersized for his position, however, that doesn’t stop him from relentlessly pursuing the basketball. He was huge in helping McClintock advance to the semifinals of the Utah bracket. </p> <p>Luke Turner <em>6’7 SG Rancho Christian 2021 (#21PHSC 2021)</em> - Turner is known for his shooting, however today I was impressed with his defense. Turner showed the ability to defend multiple positions, throughout his semifinal game against Durango. It wasn’t as if his offense disappeared as the 6’7 sharpshooter showed the ability to score from both behind the arc and in the paint. </p> <p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://twitter.com/7outzbballclub1">Follow Prep Hoops </a></p>
