The best player on 2A’s best team, Te Slaa led the Comets to the state title last year and will be the focal point of the attack again this year. A long, skilled wing who holds offers from Augustana, South Dakota, South Dakota State, and North Dakota, he averaged 17.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists a game last season, shooting 45.5% from 3.
Cooper DeJean Cooper DeJean 6'2" | CG OABCIG | 2021 State IA (OABCIG, 2021)
The future Iowa football standout is coming off one of the most productive high school football careers in state history, and he’s been just as dominant on the hardwood. A highly athletic guard, DeJean dominates games and stuffs the stat sheet on both ends of the floor. He averaged 25.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.5 steals a game last season.
Blake Chance Blake Chance 6'4" | PG Albia | 2021 State IA (Albia, 2021)
A talented lead guard with great size at 6-4, Chance is a gifted passer who sees the floor extremely well and can impact the game without scoring. He averaged 14.7 points, 6.1 rebounds and 7.8 assists a game last year for the Blue Demons.
Marcus Kelderman Marcus Kelderman 6'1" | SG Boyden-Hull | 2021 State IA (Boyden-Hull, 2021)
Kelderman came off the bench for the Comets last year to provide a major scoring punch, and he’ll step into the role of secondary scorer alongside Te Slaa this year. A slim lefty guard, he’s equally adept getting to the rim or knocking down 3s. He averaged 11.6 points a game last year, but should see that number get up to the 18ish range this year.
Camden Schroeder Camden Schroeder 6'5" | SF East Sac County | 2021 State IA (East Sac County, 2021)
Schroeder was one of the most efficient players in the state last year, averaging 22.5 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.3 blocks while putting up highly impressive 62-44-84 shooting splits. Look for him to continue to put up video game numbers for the Raiders.
Ashton Cook Ashton Cook 6'5" | SF Regina | 2021 State IA (Regina, 2021)
An athletic lefty wing, Cook averaged 16.8 points and 8.0 rebounds last season, and a lot of shots are opening up with the graduation of Masen Miller Masen Miller 6'0" | PG Regina | 2020 State IA , who averaged over 26 points a game. With his size, length, and versatility, he should put up huge numbers for the Regals as the focal point of the offense.
Zach Erwin Zach Erwin 6'6" | SF Camanche | 2022 State IA (Camanche, 2022)
Erwin may look like an outlier on this list, but we expect him to have a huge breakout year as a junior. He was a starter as a sophomore for one of the best teams in 2A, and with a lot of graduations hitting the Indians, a lot of opportunities will open up for Erwin, who can do a little bit of everything on the floor. He averaged 9.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks a game last season.
Karson Sharar Karson Sharar 6'2" | SG Iowa Falls-Alden | 2021 State IA (Iowa Falls-Alden, 2021)
Sharar has committed to play football at Northern Iowa, but, like DeJean, is a standout on the hardwood. One of the best pure scoring threats in the state, he averaged 23.6 points and 7.3 rebounds a game last season, and is a threat to go for 40+ on a nightly basis with his ability to get scorching hot from 3.
