He’s got good size and is a heady player who contributes across the board. He’ll pair with [player_tooltip player_id="796155" first="Andrew" last="Formanek"] to give Clear Lake one of the best inside-out tandems in the state. He averaged 14.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.5 steals a game last season.

[player_tooltip player_id="962491" first="Ashton" last="Hermann"] (Ballard, 2022)

Hermann is a long, athletic wing who makes a major impact on both ends of the floor. He averaged 15.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.8 steals a game last season, and he uses his quickness and length to create all sorts of issues for opposing ball handlers. He looks primed for a breakout junior year as a scorer, with an improved jumper to pair with his ability to get to the bucket.

[player_tooltip player_id="682284" first="Karter" last="Petzenhauser"] (Spencer, 2022)

The 6-3 wing has established himself as one of the state’s top scoring threats, leading the Tigers in scoring as both a freshman and sophomore. He’s at his best playing downhill and getting to the bucket, but he’s capable of scoring from all three levels. He averaged 19.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists a game last season.

[player_tooltip player_id="956878" first="Brayson" last="Laube"] (Marion, 2023)

The younger brother of some former Marion girls standouts, Brayson had a solid freshman year for the Indians, averaging 8.2 points and shooting 44.2% from behind the arc. He’s an elite shooter, but look for his all-around game to expand in a big way this year. He’s grown, gotten stronger, and a lot of shots have opened up for Marion with the graduations of [player_tooltip player_id="955697" first="Jaffer" last="Murphy"], [player_tooltip player_id="956057" first="Connor" last="Whalen"] and [player_tooltip player_id="801851" first="Will" last="Henricksen"].

[player_tooltip player_id="956874" first="Colby" last="Collison"] (Bondurant-Farrar, 2023)

Collison was one of the most productive freshmen in the state last year, averaging 13.0 points and 5.8 rebounds for a solid Bondurant-Farrar team, posting impressive 50-38-78 shooting splits along the way. A physical wing with good length and the ability to score from all three levels, look for Collison to establish himself as one of the state’s premier scoring threats, possibly as soon as this year.

[player_tooltip player_id="1067654" first="Sean" last="Murphy"] (Decorah, 2023)

Murphy didn’t even play varsity ball last year on a veteran Decorah team, but we’re confident he’s going to be one of the top players in 3A basketball this year. A heady lead guard who handles the ball and sees the floor exceptionally well, he’s also a capable scoring threat who can make an impact on the defensive end of the floor. Look for him to start making his name known around the state with a big sophomore year.

[player_tooltip player_id="796120" first="Justin" last="Recker"] (Monticello, 2021)

Recker is a remarkably efficient stretch-four who is the focal point of a Panthers team that makes the jump up to 3A this year. His ability to score inside and out at the clip that he does is rivaled by few in the state, and he just keeps adding more to his arsenal. Look for a huge senior year from the 6-6 forward after averaging 17.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists a game last year with 63-54-68 splits.

[player_tooltip player_id="964797" first="Majok" last="Majouk"] (Sergeant Bluff-Luton, 2021)

Majouk quickly became a fan favorite in March for people at the state tournament who were seeing him for the first time. The Southwest Minnesota State commit is rail thin, but he’s super long, agile and can provide some highlight reel plays with the ability he has to cover a ton of ground in a short period of time. He averaged pedestrian numbers last year - 7.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.1 blocks - but with a number of key graduations for the Warriors, look for Majouk to take a major leap this year. He’s got all sorts of tools to use.
