The 5-foot-10 guard from Kernersville, North Carolina is attending Walketown High School coached by former NC State star Kevin Thompson. He recently broke his wrist and suffered a concussion while participating in a recruiting event almost a week ago but should be able to return by the season’s start. Cone is naturally a point guard he is an elite level athlete, he can facilitate the fast break, rebound, take over a game at will and has a very high basketball IQ for his age. He can play all three perimeter positions and is a defensive hound that has a great frame that allows him to guard all three positions. Here is The Basketball Interview with Jalen Cone.

PrepHoopsNC: What player do you try to play like when you are on the floor?
Jalen Cone: I try to be explosive and score like Dennis Smith and control the floor like CP3 and lead my team like Lebron.
PrepHoopsNC: When did you start playing basketball?
Jalen Cone: I starting playing around 8 years old in the YMCA league.
PrepHoopsNC: What is your favorite NBA team?
Jalen Cone: I don’t have a favorite NBA team. I like individual players like Damian Lillard, Russell Westbrook, and CP3.
PrepHoopsNC: What is your favorite NCAA team?
Jalen Cone: I don’t have a favorite NCAA team either. I use to like Duke but now that I’m being recruited by a lot of colleges I just watch everybody and their systems they play in.
PrepHoopsNC: Where is your favorite place to play?
Jalen Cone: Kernersville has the best hoopers cause I’m in it. Not being cocky, just confident. But Charlotte, Raleigh, and Fayettville right behind Kernersville.
PrepHoopsNC: What city in NC has the best basketball players?
Jalen Cone: Favorite place to play is at parks cause that’s where everything started. Even back in the day the park is where the real hoopers started. It competitive at the park, no refs, just play ball.
