My job will not be complete until I see college coaches and recruiters flowing back into the City of Detroit and the Metro Detroit area as a whole to see the amazing talent that is being displayed day in and day out. Let’s take a look at 5 forwards that will make any college program out there better.
D’Angelo Stoxstill (2021, F, Westland John Glenn)
High school and college coaches require and admire dedication. This young man has been under the radar. I’m writing on him because I have watched his dedication over the summer to improving his game. He on the outside courts doing what it takes to get better. This accurate shooter and all-around player is primed for a breakout senior season
Michael Justice (2021, F, Troy Athens)
There is something that is called “playing winning basketball.” Justice plays winning basketball. He is the type of player teammates love to play with. I saw him play help defense and get blocks. He communicates on the floor. He hits the open shot and the important shot. He rebounds well. His passing out of the post is beautiful to watch. Justice will play college basketball because he “plays winning basketball.”
Darion Johnson (2024, F, River Rouge)
This River Rouge transfer is ready to make his mark on the River Rouge Tradition. This freshman is on the college recruiter’s radar now. The reason is he doesn’t play like a freshman. At 6-8 he can handle himself very well against older players. He is aggressive, physical and won’t back down. He battles in the post for position and rebounds. He is only going to get better if he keeps working hard.
Blake Woodward Blake Woodward 6'9" | C Romeo | 2021 State MI (2021, F, Romeo)
Woodward is going to have a wonderful senior season. He understands how to use his size and he understands the game of basketball. When he gets the ball in the post his footwork has improved greatly and he will finish strong. He is a good passer out of the post. He works hard on the defensive end. He is definitely going to help a college program.
Cooper Craggs Cooper Craggs 6'7" | PF Novi Catholic Central | 2022 State MI (2022, F, Detroit Catholic Central)
Craggs is both an old school player and a new school player. From the old school perspective he is powerful in the post. He will power his way to layups, offensive rebounds, and put backs. I love his turnaround jumper. From an old school perspective he is not afraid to get floor burns. He plays hard and aggressive. From the new school perspective he can step out and hit the three point shot which puts him in the stretch four category. He is starting to get offers and they are well-deserved because he can play basketball.
