Grand Western Classic: Top Wings

<p>The Grand Western Classic had some great talent at every position.  There were many wings who stood out with there explosive athleticism and impressive abilities to score. </p> <p>Here are our picks for the top wings from The Grand Western Classic in American Fork, Utah.</p> <p><strong>Shaedon Sharpe- Dream City Christian</strong></p> <p>Shaedon Sharpe is someone who you could call a walking highlight reel. Shaedon has crazy bounce which allows him to play above the rim, he even had maybe the best highlight on the weekend with a thrilling posterizing finish off of a lob. This bounciness makes him a threat for put back finishes at anytime during a game and he has a knack for getting around box outs to explode towards the rim. Shaedon might be the most fluent super athlete I have ever gotten the chance to see in person, it seemed like he was dunking everything. If gets a consistent jumpshot, he may be a future pro. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="608059" first="Jalen" last="Weaver"]- Southern California Academy</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="608059" first="Jalen" last="Weaver"] is an elite slasher who plays with a calming presence on the floor. The Nevada commit had a good weekend making his presence felt with his athletic finishes at the rim, he often seems to be floating in the air when finishing at the rim. Jalen’s jumper also looked very consistent from mid range and three point land, playing at the guard spot he can pull jumpers in smaller defenders face with good height at 6’5. Jalen has all the natural skill and talent to play at the next level cannot wait to see him play on the Real Grind Session and in the Mountain West Conference. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="533053" first="Zaon" last="Collins"]- Bishop Gorman</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="533053" first="Zaon" last="Collins"] is another great athlete out in Utah this past weekend. The UNLV has a great game when going downhill, and uses his bounce to get in the best position to finish at the rim. He also impressed despite being a smaller wing/guard on his ability to grab rebounds, he fly’s in when crashing the offensive boards to try and get tip in put backs. He also has a good set jumpshot from three point land. Zaon is a player at the next level who I think his game will translate to being a point guard with UNLV, as he showed a good sense for finding open teammates on the floor.</p> <p><strong>Mike Mitchell- Prolific Select</strong></p> <p>Mike Mitchell had one of the smoothest games of anyone at the event. The Pepperdine commit is a big shooting guard who has a very nice handle on the ball and uses it to create space between him and defenders. He has a great set of crossovers and step backs to create space for his jumper, which is very good off the dribble and on set shots. He also has good length which allowed him to get big blocks on the defensive end of the ball. His jumper opened up more of his game allowing him to drive to the rim and set up cutting teammates on the pick and roll. Pepperdine has a good shooting guard coming there way next year!</p>
