2023 Rankings Stock Risers

A look at some of the hottest players in the 2023 class that have moved up the rankings.

9. 6-5 W [player_tooltip player_id="820282" first="Ethan" last="Davis"] – Collins Hill

Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, Tennessee State, Georgia, Tennessee Tech, Middle Tennessee State and Ole Miss have all offered over the summer. Davis is a strong perimeter player that can get to the basket and finish through contact. He’s got a similar build to that of 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="870149" first="Robert" last="Cowherd"]. Davis can score from the perimeter and can play above the rim. He was a consistent point producer for the Georgia Stars throughout the offseason. He’s ready to be a go-to option at the varsity level.

12. 6-7 F [player_tooltip player_id="820294" first="Eduardo" last="Hendricks"] – Meadowcreek
(Up from No. 20)

Eddie Hendricks already has a college-ready body. He’s a grown man that is a workhorse around the basket. He’s tough to keep off the glass and has a well-rounded offensive game equipped with a soft touch from the mid-range. Hendricks is an active defender that can jump passing lanes and protect the hoop. He’s a vocal leader for his team and takes pride in being the defensive anchor for his unit.

13. 6-7 F [player_tooltip player_id="1045086" first="Chad" last="Moodie"] – Grayson

Moodie burst onto the scene with his length and smooth play. Chad plays with great activity in the paint, always in the mix to come away with offensive rebounds. He can cause issues with his quickness when attacking from 15-feet and out. Moodie has a quick first step and can get to the basket in a limited number of dribbles where he can rise up over the defense for finishes. He holds plenty upside defensively and could be a player that can guard multiple positions and not have many problems when being switched out onto guards. Moodie might not put up the stats that some other top 2023’s will this season, but don’t sleep on what Chad may become once he’s the top option inside for Grayson.

16. 6-4 CG [player_tooltip player_id="957136" first="Saulamon" last="Evans"] – Mays

A big guard with size, strength and skills, [player_tooltip player_id="957136" first="Saulamon" last="Evans"] is looking to improve upon his robust team-leading 15.1 points per game at Mays. Evans is tough with the ball, able to create off the dribble and power his way to the bucket. He’s got a nice pull-up jumper and can stretch defenses beyond the three-point line. Evans is improving as a playmaker and did a nice job of getting others involved as the summer went on. He has shades of 2021 [player_tooltip player_id="754245" first="Taihland" last="Owens"] in his game.

25. 5-9 G [player_tooltip player_id="820279" first="Austen" last="Colton"] – East Coweta

The power packed potent point producer put up big numbers throughout the summer. He caught my eye during the regular season a year ago as a fearless little freshman that could come off the bench and give East Coweta an instant shot in the arm offensively. Now slated to start, he and [player_tooltip player_id="870172" first="Sammy" last="Moss"] will get the lion’s share of the shots this season. Colton’s well-rounded scoring touch makes him one of the best pound-for-pound bucket getters in his class.

33. 6-7 W [player_tooltip player_id="1042852" first="Colby" last="Williams"] – Meadowcreek

[player_tooltip player_id="1042852" first="Colby" last="Williams"] has a ton of tools to become a household name. Moving over from Brookwood to Meadowcreek this season, Williams is a long wing with a good outside shot. He can get hot from deep and discombobulate defenses as they try to decide who to defend him. If opponents put a big on him, Williams is quick enough to blow by and get to the rim. If they go too small, Williams can take him into the post and score over top. And if defenses forget that Williams can leap, if they challenge him at the rim they are in for a loud surprise.
