Here is a look at my Starting Five for the Class of 2021 players at the camp:
Point Guard – Preston Fortner Preston Fortner 5'10" | PG Francis Howell | 2021 State MO 5’10″ Francis Howell: Even in a showcase camp setting where every tends to look for their own shot, Fortner played his normal role of the consummate point guard as he looked to feed his teammates while mixing it in with his own ability to create his own offense. He is fast in the open court and his pull-up jumper on the move is cash money.
Wing – Seth Larson 6’5″ Hickman: A skilled wing player with a big body who showcased his ability to create shots off the dribble with his slick handles and escape moves, which resulted in mid-range jumpers and 3-pointers. He also went into the post to take advantage of his size with a smooth turnaround jumper. His physical strength and skill set make him a tough matchup for defenders.
Wing – Devlin Tomlinson Devlin Tomlinson 6'6" | PF Blue Springs South | 2021 State MO 6’2″ Hazelwood Central: The athletic wing player was one of the most impressive players in the camp. He displayed his excellent slashing and finishing ability on his consistent attacks on the rim. He was also knocking down pull up 3-pointers and dropping some nice dimes. A very nice breakout evening.
Forward – Jai Graham Jai Graham 6'5" | SF Hazelwood Central | 2021 State MO 6’5″ Hazelwood Central: A versatile combo forward who was physically strong with a solid skill set. He was tough to handle off the dribble as he scored on strong takes to the bucket and complimented it with a nice mid-range jumper. He was also very active on the offensive boards with several put-backs.
Forward – Caleb Legrand Caleb Legrand 6'6" | PF Cape Notre Dame | 2021 State MO 6’6″ Cape Notre Dame: The talented forward from the boot heel was one of the top defensive players at the camp as he blocked at least two or three shots in each game. His length and timing were very good around the basket. He was just as tough on the offensive end as he scored around the basket with a nice jump hook and short jumpers.
