End of Summer Showcase Recap: High Academic Players

<p>The end of Summer Showcase took place this weekend in Gilbert, Arizona. Hosted by recruiting legend Gerry Freitas the event featured some of the top talent on the West Coast. It also included some of the smartest student athletes in the country. In this article PH takes a look at some of the top high academic prospects from the event. </p>
<p>Tavionte Jackson <em>6’1 PG Hard 2 Guard 2022 (#5PHN 2022)</em> - Jackson staked his claim as one of the West Coast top PG’s. In addition to his on court game, he goes hard in the classroom bringing home a 4.2 GPA.</p>
<p>Jayson Mathews 5<em>’9 PG Rose City Ballers 2022 (#23PHNC 2022)</em> - The jitterbug PG, is also a fast learner. A 4.0 student, Mathews was one of the quickest players participating in the event.</p>
<p>Isiah Carr <em>6’11 C D1 New Mexico 2022</em> <em>(featured image)</em> - This was my first chance to lay eyes on Carr. He’s a fierce competitor on the floor, but one of the nicest kids you will meet off it. In the classroom Carr rocks a 4.7 GPA.</p>
<p>[player_tooltip player_id="941624" first="Daryian" last="Matthews"] <em>6’5 PF D1 New Mexico 2021</em> (#95PHA 2021) - Mathews is a relentless rebounder. He is also an articulate, intelligent student athlete with a bright future and a 4.7 GPA. He has received interest from such high academic schools as George Fox and John Jay to name a few.</p>
<p>Caleb Nelson <em>6’6 SF Coastal Elite Slayers 2021 (#58PHSC 2021)</em> - Nelson is a sharpshooting wing with good size. That includes the size of the computer between his ears. Nelson brings home a 4.1 GPA.</p>
<p>[player_tooltip player_id="963954" first="Yaru" last="Harvey"] <em>6’3 SG Nor Cal Ducks 2021</em> - Harvey is a strong driver and slasher. He is also strong in the classroom. The 6’3 wing comes through with a 3.99 GPA.</p>
