In the Southern California recruiting landscape, many of the top 2021 prospects have pledged to Division I programs as the CIF Southern Section has decided to delay its season until March 12th at the earliest. With the altered season, rising seniors have even less time to be evaluated live by college coaches and we wanted to highlight some of the sleeper prospects within the region who should be on the radar of college coaches.
Thomas Oosterbroek Thomas Oosterbroek 6'5" | PF Brentwood | 2021 State CA-S , Brentwood – The strong, physical power forward has great touch and soft hands around the basket and can finish efficiently with both his left and right hands. The 6-foot-6 senior has the ability to hit the face-up jumper out to 17-feet and makes his biggest impact as an offensive and defensive rebounder who can run the floor and establish good post position.
Anthony Robinson Anthony Robinson 5'10" | PG Long Beach Poly | 2021 State CA-S , Long Beach Poly – Robinson is one of the quickest players – both on offense and defense – in Southern California regardless of class. The 5-foot-10 point guard is a blur on the break and is a crafty finisher around the basket whose ability to get paint touches opens up clean looks for his teammates. Robinson is a great on-ball defender who collects multiple steals per game with his quick hands and great anticipation of passing lanes.
Preston Amarillo Preston Amarillo 6'4" | SF Fountain Valley | 2021 State CA-S , Fountain Valley – Amarillo plays all over the floor for Fountain Valley and can be seen playing positions 1 through 5 on any given possession. The 6-foot-4 senior will likely play the forward or wing position at the next level due to his ability to rebound the defensive glass, push the break and willingness to set up teammates for open shots. Amarillo’s length and toughness inside allow him to finish through and around contact bigger than his size would lead you to believe.
Selah Robins Selah Robins 6'2" | CG Santa Margarita | 2021 State CA-S , Santa Margarita – Robins has been a consistent varsity producer at Santa Margarita over the last couple of seasons. The 6-foot-2 guard is a physical on-ball defender who can guard multiple positions with his strength and lateral speed. Offensively, Robins is best in transition where he uses his burly shoulders and good balance to absorb and finish through contact.
