Summer Of Progression: Houston

Okay! It goes without saying that this has been an unprecedented summer, particularly with amateur athletics. However, players have found different ways to get better and adults have found new and creative ways to create exposure for players. Through the summer, I have followed up with several organizations and services whose goal was to present a platform for student-athletes to be seen by college coaches. This article will focus on players represented by All-N-One Sports.

All-N-One Sports is a service that provides marketing and branding support to players. Throughout the summer they have presented players with ways to train, play and get film all while staying relatively safe considering the pandemic scare. Their players have participated is some really good events such as the Texas Boy’s Basketball Camp, the Southwest Exposure Camp, the OTR Exposure Separation Camps, the 713 League (hosted by RL9) as well as RCS Sport's Rucker On Wood. It has been evident that their players have been getting better as many of them have moved up in the rankings in Houston, and some have recently been ranked for the very first time. I have been taking notes on their players and their progression and here is a spotlight on a few.

Dubem Muoneke

[embed]https://youtu.be/4Z6pQTE45Hw[/embed]

6’4 G/F | Cy Ranch High School | c/o 2022

It is obvious with Dubem as soon as you see him. He is an explosive athlete! It doesn’t mean that he has the highest vertical, but the explosion in which he moves is second to none. Throughout this summer he has really developed a more consistent jumper from the three point line, despite the fact that he doesn’t use that aspect of his game often. He knows where his bread is buttered. Getting down hill, attacking and putting pressure on opposing defenses. He has also progressed defensively, now being able to guard every position on the floor. And his timing on rebounds and blocked shots has also greatly improved. At the Texas Boy’s Basketball Mini Camp, Dubem averaged 15 pts and 7 rebs on 74% shooting.

[player_tooltip player_id="887089" first="Trevor" last="Passmore"]

[embed]https://youtu.be/VpGkde4AFe0[/embed]

6’3 PG | Cy Woods High School | c/o 2021

What is the most surprising aspect of Trevor’s game is his craftiness to get to the rim. He has the ability to manipulate his body well and he uses angles to get good looks at the basket on a constant basis. Throughout this summer he has proven to be an extremely good rebounder, particularly for his position and particularly on the offensive end. Every time I have seen him play he has had 3-5 offensive rebounds which provides extra possessions and typically 4-6 more points for him in the scoring column. Trevor can also shoot the ball efficiently from the perimeter and is a skilled passer. During the DFW Top 100 Camp, Trevor averaged 12 pts and 6 rebs shooting 53% from the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="961942" first="Isaiah" last="Barganier"]

[embed]https://youtu.be/I3UjipP5wjI[/embed]

6’6 G/F | Fulshear High School | c/o 2022

Coming into the summer, Isaiah was thought to be a skilled big that spent too much time on the perimeter. Well, he has been dispelling that myth as he has progressed. His size allows him to shoot over defenders and once he attacks, he can absorb contact and finish at the rim. The biggest improvement he has made has been his ability to find open teammates and get them the ball. He has really done a good job of running the floor and making great passes for easy shots. He still has that ability to knock down outside jumpers, but his improvement in these other areas has made him more well rounded. At the Texas Boy’s Basketball Camp in San Antonio, Isaiah averaged 16 pts, 7 rebs and 2 ast.

Mekhi Mcintyre

[embed]https://youtu.be/JlnV0Q9Q_K0[/embed]

6’2 PG | Travis High School | c/o 2021

One of my favorite PG’s to watch in the city. Mekhi has emerged as a premiere lead guard after playing along side with the super talented [player_tooltip player_id="884545" first="Justin" last="Hill"]. Now he is the number one option in his program and he used this summer to progress mentally into filling that role. The talent has always been there, but now he is showing it with more consistency as his confidence in being a number one player has sky rocketed. Mekhi is a three level scorer that has a certain grace about him when he’s finding ways to get to the rim. He has progressed over the summer with his perimeter defense, but the biggest difference I see with him is with his rebounding. He is definitely not afraid to go inside and mix it up with the big fellas. Recently, Mekhi poured in 17 pts for Mario Elie Elite to lead his team over the star studded DOYA 17 AAU program in the OTR Exposure Elite 8 Showcase.

Jasaud Andrews

[embed]https://youtu.be/IwGItzwQTRY[/embed]

6’0 G | Marshall High School | c/o 2021

It doesn’t matter if he is on a pick-up / open gym team or on a state championship level team, Jasaud is ALWAYS the heart and soul of his team. Some people may call him a "Glue Guy" but I call him simply the type of guy you need to win. Over the summer Jasaud has proven to be extremely coachable and that has resulted in him improving across the board. His jumper is falling more, he is more confident creating shots and he is a bit more comfortable in finishing around the rim. He is built like a bull and still needs to trust his own strength a bit more but his improvement over these last few months brings about a lot of optimism for his future.

Colby Rasberry

[embed]https://youtu.be/jwZYJycNpZI[/embed]

6’1 G | Cy Ranch High School | c/o 2022

Over the summer, Colby has emerged to be considered a really talented shooter, and there is no doubt about that. However, he has learned that the threat of him knocking down three point shots actually opens up the floor for not only himself, but for others as well. He runs the floor well, gets to his spots with ease and plays with pace. Over the summer he has improved defensively, but still has some work to do in that area. He has also improved on his decision making and his passing ability. Consequently, he is now a threat on all areas of the floor and opposing defense have to account for him at all times. During the 713 Summer League, Colby ended up averaging 12 pts, 4 rebs and 2 assists.

Eric Johnson

[embed]https://youtu.be/miHdI8-pExI[/embed]

6’6 F | Travis High School | c/o 2021

Eric’s progression over the summer has been the most interesting and fun to watch. When I first saw him he moved awkwardly and had trouble finding his role within games. But all of that is a thing of the past. Eric runs the floor like a deer, rebounds super effectively and no shot is safe if he is in the area. If a player shoots without knowing where he is, that shot will end up in the third row of the stands. His jump shot has improved a ton and he has extremely soft touch around the basket. He sets solid screens and has no issues with dunking the ball in traffic. During the 713 Summer League, Eric ended up averaging 9 pts, 7 rebs and 1.3 blks
